Donuts were very oily and inedible. Ending up tossing them.

Received custard donuts and felt strange tingling/burning sensation in my mouth. Concerning to say the least. Not sure if chemical or cross-contamination from previous fillings. Threw out the rest.

The donuts were yummy and the service was fine. The place was just dirty and cluttered.

Worst donut place I've had in a long time. I bought a dozen donuts and I think the average age was around 3 days old. Some were so hard it was inedible. These should have been tossed in the garbage several days ago. Check out the picture of the donut from here vs an actual fresh donut from Donut Nook, which we went to after this because the donuts were so bad I threw away the whole dozen.

This is my favorite donut spot in town. The owners are so sweet, their prices are such a good deal and their donuts are delicious. Plus the whole place reminds me of my childhood?. I feel like I’m 8 again walking into the donut shop I grew up around the corner from on a Saturday morning. They may not have wild fancy maple bacon filled donuts but they have perfected the donut classics?.

The lady that was extremely rude and tried to force me to take Donuts I didn't want so she didn't have to go to the back and grab me one that I did want. I won't be going back.

Donuts were still warm. Delicious.

Quiet little store, felt really nice to go into. Basic looking donuts, but way better than Safeway or anywhere else like that. Try it out.

Service was good. No wait and donut selection was not the most diverse I've experienced but it was more than adequate for a Sunday continental breakfast. The not quite as good as the original donut nook on East Ave but still very good. Recommended.

I'm really sad to write this review, but I think this needs to be shared. In the 1990s I was a student at Chico State - and I even briefly worked next door to Helen's at Pullin's Cyclery - and was a semi-regular customer at Helen's. The donuts were amazing and the place was classic donut shop with the pink formica booths. I think they were open 24 hours per day at that time and also supplied apple fritters to Chico State's cafeteria in the BMU.Today, however, the donuts are incredibly oily and really lack the crispy sweet exterior. The fritters, which had been loaded with cinnamony, gooey, apple pieces back the day, have almost zero apple. The fritters will really be disappointing if you remember how they were in the glory days of Helen's.Additionally, as others have noted, the interior is just a mess. There is all sorts of dirty, dusty junk and paperwork stacked on the counters and booths; about 80% of the seating is unavailable because of the piled debris. Really a very sad story.
