Maybe before talking smack about your customers in front of them, confirm that they don’t understand Korean? 저는 한국에서 15년 살았어요… (I lived in Korea for 15 years) and moved back to the US last year. My (Korean) wife and I passed by Chico as a pit stop from Lassen Volcanic NP and she was craving Korean food. We stopped and I ordered for her as I was still thinking about what to get. Immediately, the ajumma making the food starts talking smack about me not ordering. I responded (in Korean) that I was still thinking, but she ignored me (or didn’t head… I was loud enough though). Anyways we ordered bibimbap and mandu and she’s cussing up a storm the whole time. After we’ve been there a bit, and finishing up, she starts talking smack about how we are just “on our phones” and essentially being bad customers. We were there no more than 30 mins, but that’s besides the point. For what it’s worth, the young lady at the counter (her daughter) was quite nice and trying to calm down mom’s lunacy. I would feel she was 2nd hand embarrassed telling her not to act out in front of customers.
The food was okay but way overpriced. 17 for vegeterian bibimbap is absurd. Mandu seems like the frozen kind but 9 bucks is also way too expensive. It costs like 1/8 that to make. I don’t live in Chico but if I did, I wouldn’t ever bother going again.

I called to get the price of japchae, because I had found this restaurant on Google driving back from Sacramento to Oregon state and the lady kept telling me I was a scammer and hung up the phone on me. I called back to ask her the price of the japchae a second time and let her know I seriously wanted to order a to go meal. These days things are so expensive, I just wanted to know the price so I wasn’t surprised with a $50 bill when I got there. I ordered PHO from Seattle Washington that cost $45 2 weeks ago and it was beyond surprising. I was really just wanting japchae for dinner on my way home, but Accusing me of being a scammer, and being super suspicious, is NO WAY to treat a customer. I finally just said I’m so sorry. I don’t want to support a business that can’t even just take a simple order.
5 Stars I’m not sure why my previous review disappeared—perhaps it was my mistake—but I’ve meant to give this business a 5-star rating for a long time, and I still stand by it today. This is a wonderful, family-run Korean restaurant, and I truly appreciate their dedication and hard work to keep going, even when things get tough. Their food and service consistently bring me back. Highly recommended!

Yummy food, great service and clean space couldn't ask for more. Definitely a highlight of the Chico food scene. I got the Chicken Japchae thought it was very flavorful and banchan sides were good too. My girlfriend got the beef bulgogi and thought it was great tasting too.

Easily some of the best Korean food I've ever had. I absolutely love Oshio, and the folks that run it are incredibly nice! Great location downtown to people watch while you enjoy some delicious bulgogi. Highly recommended, you're missing out big time if you don't check it out.

I remembered about 8:15 last night to order from this place (they close at 8:30). I was craving Korean food and was happy to drive from Paradise to try this place out.
I was happily greeted and my order was almost complete (I ordered short ribs -Galbi). The couple there, I assume the owners, were very nice. The woman explained that her husband??? has been a chef for over 40 years. She hoped I would be happy with my order.
I finally arrived home, thankfully, because the smell had been creeping out of the bag the entire way! I sat and probably ate the BEST TASTING SHORT RIBS I’ve ever eaten!! Seriously…they were delicious! The portion was so big I had left overs for lunch today 😊😁. My order came with a side salad, a couple pieces of broccoli, a bit of kimchi, and white rice. I ordered an additional side of kimchi.
I will definitely be returning because I was torn between the pork bulgogi or the ribs. Now I need to go back and try everything on the menu!
If you get a chance…stop and try this place. You will NOT be disappointed! Prices seem high, but they’re actually very reasonable for Korean food!

This Korean wife and husband team cook and prepare the food fresh! Every time I go to Chico, the first place I want to go to for a meal or to take family to is Oshio!! It is the best Korean food near Redding, it was hard to find a really good Korean food place with the exception of the Bay area. Of course. Everything is so delicious!

Order upfront and they bring your order to you so kinda fast casual not officially full service. We ordered take out. Was short staffed during out visit so be patient.
Had never been and was so excited about the food! My wife and I ordered 4 items. The Chicken Japchae had such good flavor and the Beef Bibimbap was wonderful too. Our favorite of what we ordered was the Squid Bokkeum, every bite was amazing, the sauce was just so good and the squid had such rich flavor itself! My wife doesn’t even like spicy but she still loved it! We also grabbed a simple California Roll and it was delicious, very well balanced 😋 We had a lot of leftovers as well, actually!
