Very delicious food. Ordered the french onion soup(best french onion soup ive had anywhere so far), and duck(very good). Mom ate sweet breads for the first time and was hooked the moment she tried it. Sweetbreads was amazing(I also had a taste). Potatoes were almost like a creamy sauce to go with sweetbread. Only downside was menu was minimized due to covid and wasn't updated at time of dining, and the seating arrangement is for couples mostly and a bit cramped. Also staffing was low but it didn't impact dinner too much. Still worth a visit if you're not in a dire hurry.

I have tried many restaurants in the downtown Chico area and this by far was the worst. I do not recommend the Wagyu steak. It was not a meal. Just a steak. When it arrived it was nearly all fat. It was unconsumable. I do not know anyone that would eat just straight fat. When I asked why our steak was practically all fat I was told that it was high quality meat. I paid $81 dollars for this high quality full of fat steak that came by itself. I can never give a good recommendation when the parts of a meal that were the best to me were the potatoes and the bread. The seats were incredibly uncomfortable also. I highly recommend purchasing your Wagyu meat from another vendor. I would not recommend sitting in a booth. I took all that fat home and my dogs had the most expensive meal I didn't eat. My dogs would disagree with me that the steak was terrible. They loved it!

Extremely stuffy and overpriced. Worst salad I’ve ever had…but the chicken and French onion were okay - not $40 okay. Booths possibly put together with a hot glue gun? Which could have been overlooked if the food was better tasting and priced. Had to ask if something was wrong with the music since every three seconds it would skip to a different song which is extremely noticeable in a quiet empty restaurant. Judging by the lack of diners it’s appears (hopefully) that people have begun to catch on to that fact this Provençal is not at all not worth the hype or the money.

My friends and I love trying new food places in hopes of another amazing dining experience like 5th Street and Sicilian Cafe. We went in and experienced great high quality service from the staff start to finish. The food…amazing. The best plating and overall presentation hands down in Chico. This quality was also present in every meal we had. The crab, chicken, duck, and salmon were all top notch and extremely unique to any place in Chico. Not to mention there desert is crazy good. Highly recommend and definitely going again.

The food and service exceeded my expectations. The menu includes many unique items you can’t get anywhere else. The ambiance and service of the restaurant make for a great place for a special night out. The slower pace is nice and everything tasted amazing. Highly recommend

This is a great fine dining restaurant. We went here with a party of 6, and our server Brooke, and the rest of the staff made sure we were well taken care of during our visit. The chef was making rounds and greeting everyone as well. All the food and drinks were delicious. We ordered a little bit of everything, and I believe only one member in our party didn't finish everything on their plate.Keep it up Provencal, you're doing it right.

New Years eve dinner at Provencal was fabulous! Probably the best food I've had in Chico in the 23 years I've lived here! Finally a restaurant with authentic French food. They had a special NY Eve menu as well as their regular menu to choose from. The service, presentation and ambiance are top notch. Chef, Gary Jones, came by our table a few times to check on us and give us some great insight into his culinary approach and style. My recommendation is to try as many dishes as possible. His menu changes with the seasons are are definitely unique. The scallops appetizer even had edible gold flecks and caviar on top! Pictures are of the scallop and shrimp appetizers, Salad Lyonnaise, Chilean sea bass and the Seafood Pasta special with beet infused pasta noodles. Simply perfection!!
