We used to love eating here, food tastes good. However, at our most recent trip we noticed they don't wear gloves while making sandwiches! Ew! They were touching pens, fridges, trash, everything, and then making sandwiches. No washing hands in between. We left before getting food. Are they handling cash too, and then touching food? Nasty.

When I had to order food for my mother's memorial service over the phone, the manager was very helpful. When we arrived as the store opened, the staff had our food and all of the fixings. Everything looked great and tasted even better. It was a very nice day for my guests to remember and celebrate Mom. Thank you.

I've been on a bit of a deli sandwich quest. My recent reviews will attest that I've not been able to find a place with both great bread and adequate filling. It's been one or the other or none. I thought a true delicatessen would fit the bill, so I checked out Spiteri's last Thursday for lunch. The line at 12:30pm is a testament to this place's popularity, and both the inside seating and huge outdoor patio were full. When we made it to the counter, we were helped by the nicest gal. I like that one person takes your order and makes your food, keeping things seamless for your entire interaction. The good?? This place loads up on the meat! It was generously portioned, and really tasty. The just ok?? The sandwich was leaking lol I'm not sure how else to describe it... and I'm not sure what the culprit was -- pepperoncini juice, mayo/mustard, pickles? Either way, it was a really messy situation... messier than any sammy in recent memory. The bad?? The bread. My sourdough roll was too tall to take a bite out of, and it was incredibly dry. I think you can even see how dry it is in the pic! Spiteri's is a beloved local institution, but I probably won't be back. My perfect deli sandwich is out there, somewhere. The food is really 3 stars at best, but I'm giving it 4 for the really nice service.

Best sandwich by far in Chico. I typically order take out, but the times I have been in line the wait is approximately 5 minutes. The customer service is both phenomenal and quick. Highly recommended.
Vegetarian options: Veggie sandwich is great. The majority of their salads and sides are vegetarian as well.

Great local sandwich shop. Love the Ruben as well as custom deli sandwiches. The line can get long, but it moves pretty quickly. Worth the wait.Service can be hit and miss. Long time staff are quick and efficient. Everyone is friendly and professional. Some of the newer staff can make the same high quality sandwich but it takes much longer. Waiting 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches feels like a long time. Several other orders were started after and finished before my order.
