Ive eaten at The Grill 4 times. I have never had a dish I didnt like. The food is amazing and fresh. The staff is just superior. Today my hubby and I went for the mothers day brunch buffett. WoW the menu was filled with delightful offerings. I highly recommend!!
Great atmosphere and excellent cocktails. The bar is mostly what brings me here. There is a little inconsistency with the food quality. I've had great menu items and not great ones.
Date night but the food was just ok. Staff was great and I love the ambiance, but at this price point the food should be amazing. Halibut was completely overdone, like hard, the appetizers and drinks were great. Would probably go back for drinks and apps.
My partner & I had a date night at The Grill this past weekend and it felt like a really special place... I just can't figure out why it was completely empty. We made a 6:30pm reservation for Saturday night, and while there were a few people in the bar/lounge area, we were the only patrons in the restaurant for the entire hour & a half we were there. It was Thanksgiving weekend, so there's that... but it was just really odd.
Overall, the food was phenomenal. My partner ordered the ribeye and he was really pleased with the cut of beef, the way it was cooked, etc. I ordered the prime rib French Dip sandwich and it dethroned my long-standing favorite from Los Altos Grill (Los Altos) and Rutherford Grill (Napa) of the Hillstone Restaurant Group. I mean, it was really freaking good!
I think the reason for only 4 stars is the service lacked a bit throughout. The staff outnumbered us 4:1 easily... so it was strange that our water glasses ever got empty, or we had to ask for to-go boxes or our check. Our server brought me a box, but no containers for the au jus or horseradish cream. The Grill feels like fine dining, and I was expecting a higher level of service... if for nothing else, because we were the only people in the restaurant.
I'll be back for that French Dip, but I'd probably eat in the bar/lounge next time.
Best kept secrete in Chico. I'm hesitant to write a review since I'm worried the place will become too busy. But I want them to be successful so that they stay open. Best atmosphere, quality, and value for breakfast and dinner.
You can make reservations shortly before your arrival. There is plenty of room for larger groups.
Bloody Mary, chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict are amongst the best in Chico.
They have a great happy hour menu, and the French dip and chicken sandwich is on point.
Service is always wonderful. It's my go-to spot whenever I have guests in town or to get together with friends.
Try it once, and you'll keep coming back! I could keep going on, but you get the point.
Great Happy Hour prices on food and drinks, attentive friendly service, great atmosphere.
Excellant Egg Benedict. Prime rib cooked to perfection!! Highly recommend the egg Benedict with prime rib!! Excellanr service by busboy and waitress!! Great place for a Sunday Brunch!!
Pleasantly surprised how good the food was. We went for brunch. The steak and egg's were excellent, good flavor and cooked perfectly. The prime rib egg's Benedict was fantastic! Breakfast potatoes were also very good. They had gluten free bread which was nice for me.
Great Happy Hour prices on food and drinks, attentive friendly service, great atmosphere.
Food at the Grill was well prepared, but not memorable. We had the sea bass (great mashed potatoes) and the vegetarian polenta (dry texture but adequate flavor). Service was friendly but we seldom interacted with the wait person. Overall., not an experience we want to repeat.

For a pre-theater dinner with friends, our meal was not only delicious and expeditiously served, but the server was most attentive and friendly. Everyone in our party agreed that the meal exceeded our expectations! Definitely eating here again.
We went to the Grill for our 38th anniversary dinner. The ambience was quiet and relaxing. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the truffle fries as a starter but tasted like regular ol' fries with no "truffle flavor". My wife ordered the chicken parmesan, which was so so, and I ordered the beer battered fish tacos. Unfortunately, my tortillas for my fish tacos were dripping with oil so I just ate the fish, slaw and salsa. Our server was kind enough to take 20% of the bill. We'll give it another try because the ambience and service was great. We'll most likely order something different on our next visit.
We stayed at Hotel Diamond for our daughter's Chico State Graduation and had the BEST TIME!!! The owner of the restaurant/bar and his staff were fantastic. Drinks and food were so good and the overall vibe was perfect for us. Highly recommend!!!!
We took my daughter and her friend to brunch after Chico State graduation . I had eggs Benedict which was very good , eggs were a tad overcook but hollandaise sauce was out standing . Wife had a French dip that was very good and my daughter's friend had the steak salad which was delicious according to her . Service was good I would definitely dine here again !!
They were out of several items, including all pasta, mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, Brussels sprouts , eggplant parmigiana. We ended up just having appetizers for dinner! Won't go back.
