Delicious food, great service, fair prices, lots of parking!
Our family visited for dinner on a Saturday night, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. There was a line when we arrived, and with two toddlers in tow, we ended up waiting over an hour for our food. There was only one waitress responsible for serving 25–30 guests, and it was clear the restaurant was severely understaffed.
What frustrated us most was seeing other tables who arrived after us receive their food, pay, and leave before we even got served. Our children were understandably upset and hungry, and it became a very uncomfortable situation. We arrived at 6:30 PM and didn’t receive our food until after 8:10 PM — nearly two hours later, which is unacceptable.
When we spoke with the manager, he simply blamed the waitress and cited post-COVID staffing issues, which felt more like an excuse than a solution. While the food itself was decent, the overall experience left a bad impression.
The owner and management really need to bring on more staff during busy weekends and improve their customer service. Sadly, we won’t be returning.
Been coming here for years and the food has always been tasty. Especially the clam chowder!
For $25.00 this is the worst Jambalaya I have ever had. Decided to pick up because of broken foot first time visitor will never go back. Food was dry and mostly rice, was not good. That's just my intake of this establishment.
Awesome. Had the clam chowder will be eating here again.
The Boiler is a must anytime I’m in the Chino area during open days and hours. The house pan is my favorite 🤤
Open for lunch Thursday through Sunday and dinner Wednesday through Sunday. Added a photo of detailed business hours below.
Highly recommend you show up as soon as it opens to secure seating, otherwise you can expect long wait times. Still worth it but I imagine it would be torture to show up hungry and deal with the aromatics of the kettles cooking to test your patience 😂
The Boiler is one of the best steam kettle cooking restaurants I have ever been to. If you enjoy cajun/creole seafood, you have to try out The Boiler in Chino Hills. I always take out-of-town visitors here because it's a unique dining experience that you really can't find in too many places.
The best dishes to order at the Boiler are:
* House pan roast (lunch price: $17.50; dinner price: $28.00): this is the main dish that everyone comes to The Boiler for. It has shrimp, scallops, crab, and clams in a tomato cream based sauce. It is absolutely delicious. You choose a spice level between 1-10. There are spice levels aren't that bad at the restaurant - I normally go with a 7, and it's just enough spice. You can also ask for the scoop of rice on the side if you don't want it inside of your bowl when it's served.
* Fisherman's chowder (lunch price: $17.50; dinner price: $27.50): if you like New England claw chowder, this is the option for you. This chowder has calamari, shrimp, scallops, crab, mussels, and white fish in the creamy chowder sauce.
* Shrimp diablo (lunch price: $16.50; dinner price: $24.00): large prawns in a white wine, garlic butter, olive oil, and spicy tomato sauce served over linguini. Delicious texture that pairs perfectly with the noodles.
* Cajun calamari appetizer ($12.00): I always order the cajun calamari to start. It's a large appetizer order, good enough for 3-4 people to share. The cocktail sauce with the horseradish that it's served with is a delicious complement to the calamari sticks.
* Cajun fries ($6.50): When I am extra hungry, I get the cajun fries on the side. I love dipping them into the house pan roast as well.
I've tried all of the main entrees on their menu, and can say that the house pan roast, fisherman's chowder, and shrimp diablo are the best options. I've had better jambalaya and gumbo elsewhere, so stick with the options I listed above.
The staff is extremely friendly. Try to get a spot in front of the steam kettles so you can see how the chefs prepare each dish. It's really fun to observe and ask questions too!
Tried the pan roast with linguine, spice 5/10. It was very tasty!

Food was decent. Only complaint I got was the little amount of black mussels that I received. I would still dine in but not any time soon.

Jackson is an old friend I have known for more than ten years, and he is the most picky gourmet I have ever seen. Perhaps because I couldn’t eat authentic New Orleans cuisine, I decided to open one in California. The taste is not picky... Jambalaya New Orleans Chicken Stew, the spices are very special. It is the so-called cajun cuisine and it is also my favorite. I must order it every time I go there.Jambalaya, considered the representative of New Orleans’ version of paella, is also a common and representative local delicacy. In addition to rice, Jambalaya also has a variety of ingredients such as seafood, chicken, smoked sausages, etc. The cooked rice grains are a little moist and absorb the flavors of sauces and different ingredients. It has a rich taste when you taste it. It is also paired with shrimp and chicken. Chew and mix various delicious flavors in your mouth.
