This place is a hidden gem inside the strip mall it’s located in. The lunch specials were 14.75, they had a good variety of dishes and the food OMG WAS SOOO GOOD. If you haven’t visited here yet, do yourself a favor and go check them out. You will not be disappointed, I PROMISE❤️
Just ordered food to go this time. However, their soup are always so good and plenty of meat & veggies inside. Also comes with rice to add to your soup, tortillas (flour or corn), chips and salsa, plus all the fixings. My favorite used to be the chicken soup, and then I tasted the caldo de res. Boy, the meat fell apart with ease, and the broth was so full of flavor. It also had several different vegetables in it.
Have visited twice and enjoyed both occasions! Seems that a lot of Mexican food in SoCal is getting bland these days, but not Los Portales! Very flavorful, a decent amount of heat, and well prepared/presented dishes. Ranchero enchiladas for me, and tender carnitas for the missus - we'll be back!
