Bamboo Garden Thai Cuisine

I just want to alert all vegetarians and vegans and especially those with shellfish and fish allergies — all there sauces have shellfish and or fish sauce mixed in it even if you order the vegetables only or tofu or mock duck/chicken. They don’t ask for allergies and the waitress was quite surprised that shellfish and fish are NOT vegetarian. I think education is in order especially when there’s people with allergies and sensitivities.

The fresh tofu roll is vegan but not the peanut dipping sauce. My lips were swollen after I had a tsp of it which means, that sauce likely was contaminated with other shellfish in the sauce since I have allergies to all shellfish especially crab and shrimp but the server not the kitchen seem to understand that fully.

Even if you order tofu or mock meats, the sauce they use are from cans and bottles made with shellfish and fish so all entrees with sauce are not vegan or even vegetarian Updated from previous review on 2026-05-08

We love this spot! Delicious food, reasonable prices, and great service. It is one of the few restaurants in Otay where we never leave disappointed. A heads up, their pho soup has a thai twist to it that is so tasty!

I got a to-go order of Chicken Larb. Way too salty and wasn’t at all spicy for level 7/10. Won’t be back.

I love the food here. From other reviews it seems as though some believe that they serve vegan options. I am not a vegan but I have vegan relatives and when I saw mock proteins on the menu I called to ask which dishes were suitable for vegans. The person I spoke to shared that all of the sauces have fish sauce in it and therefore none of the dishes could be made vegan. I’ve since asked again in person and was given a similar explanation. Just wanted to share my experience with this since I know that could be upsetting to those who follow a vegetarian/vegan diet. If this is no longer the case, please do share!

Online it is showing they close at 9:30 so we went in at 8:30 hoping to get seated. But the person at front desk told us that they are only doing pickups as restaurant is closing at 9. I would have used my time wisely if I was aware about this before. Timings online are not correct and restaurant should take care of it.

For a combination of great food & affordable for a sit down place, this is it. Food was delicious. All their curry dishes are authentic recipes with layered flavors. Will come back.

This place was great! We were a little nervous to try a new place in hoping we liked the food but it was really good. The portions are a little small but very tasty 😋. My 12 year old son can be picky, he ended up loving the garlic spare ribs!!!
