I don't give zero stars because the hamburger my son got was ok.The philly cheese steak turned into bread sandwich. Maybe two Bites with a little beef. And a little cheese. The fries were soggy oil. No crisp. And Like everywhere, it's very expensive. If you do go the gyro plate and the Greek chicken salad looked ok but there like $20 a piece.A hamburger combo and philly cheesesteak combo $38(includes CA tax, no tip). Better to go to in n out!I won't be returning.

order food to go from here, when we picked up the girl at the counter was rude. After spending 90.00 dollars for the food, the cheese fries .. where basically fries, the gyro was burnt.. Never going back!

Absolutely ridiculous that 2 hamburgers take just under an hour(53 minutes to be exact). This has been consistent with the past 3x I’ve been a patron. There was one other customer in the restaurant with me so it’s not like they were swamped. I think the delay is the cooks chatting it up while the short heavy set dude does everything. Unfortunately this will most likely be my last time buying these burgers.

The prices have gone up and the food quality has decreased a bit, but still one of my go to places for burgers and stuff.

The Craic Pirate

Craic Pirate: “What is the 6oz burger like?”Tif: “It is bigger than In-n-Out”Craic: “Okay, I will have the 6oz charbroiled.”Tif: “Want the combo?”Craic: “Nah, I don’t want soda but how are the fries?”Tif: “Our fries are great, everyone loves our fries. But, honestly you’ll save money if you order the combo because then you won’t pay extra for cheese. You’ll get more for your money even if you don’t want the soda.”Craic: “Okay, let’s do it!”•Awesome burger and French fries. I have no complaint and appreciate they took care of me. Clean place. Nice counter crew. Very popular and busy. I will definitely be returning with my whole crew Yar!!!

I've gone to Canada Steak Burger on University Ave. for years. It's a tiny spot, what you would call "a hole in the wall" or "Mom - Pop" kind of establishment. The staff and food are A-1 in service. There are about 100 cooks at any given time, just kidding, but they seem to have a system that works well with their limited space. The food is ALWAYS fresh and cooked to order. There's always standing room only but well worth the wait. All my years of going to the University location, I recently learned of the Chula Vista location. It's much larger and I received the same quality of service and food. I highly recommend Canada Steak Burger ?.

Canada steak use to be my go to. It use to be so good but the quality is now so bad. I came in today got the gyro and fries. The gyro was so skimpy and dry and some pieces burnt. The fries that I use to love were greasy no flavor even tho I asked for extra seasoning, that didn't happen. And the two times I came in before that and asked for extras seasoning didn't happen then either. Yall cooking like you don't want to be there. No wonder it was empty in there. SMDH

It's Sunday 9:15.... Yelp and website hours say they are open but nobody is answering the phone to take my order!? This was my fav place.

It's been a while since my last visit, and I've always had positive experiences until today. If I could give a one-star rating, I certainly would. However, the one star is solely justified by the satisfaction my husband found in the chicken kabob plate he ordered - he had no complaints about that. On the flip side, the disappointment came with the two gyro sandwiches and the two orders of onion rings we received. Despite ordering both gyros with grilled onions and tomatoes, they turned out excessively greasy, causing the pita to disintegrate when trying to eat them. The onion rings, priced a little less then $7 per order, yielded only about four rings, and they seemed more like a haphazardly assembled mound of fried something hastily tossed into a paper bag. Furthermore, for those expecting ranch dressing, caution is advised. What was served was a mere pinch of ranch mixed with an unappetizing mayo concoction.
