Very busy place on a Friday night with just one cook. Unfortunately for Don Roman’s, unlike revenge, Mexican food is not a dish best served cold 🥶. Beef rolled tacos and asada beef for my torta were probably prepped in the afternoon. I could stomach only two rolled tacos and half of the carne asada torta. With so many options for this style of taco shop elsewhere in Chula, Don Roman is fortunate to have the whole heritage park neighborhood all for himself. 👎

The first time when I tried the Carne Asada fries here they were so good! The fries weren't overcooked and too fried like how some places have it! But now when I started going again, which was my 6th time today, I ordered a California burrito, and was very upset and disappointed, I came here for the good fries they make and I got the worst burrito with super brown and overcooked fries, and assuming it comes with sour cream, since almost all Cali burritos have it! It was just plain, it didnt anything but cheese, they should tell you what the burrito comes with! Anyway, this is absolutely terrible, these fries are so brown! You guys where the only place where you didnt overcook your fries.

Food is good, though the one in El Cajon seems to put more care into it. This one really does nickle and dime you, adding sour cream is $1.49. Not to mention that even when paying cash they still add the 4% card fee. Maybe it was a mistake, but it's happened twice and I've tested it with a friend. They paid the same price for the and item despite using cash vs card.
Edit: The worst California burrito I've ever had hands down. No cream or guacamole just hand off it is Pico de gallo.

Burritos are SMALL for the price. Food is pretty good, and the best thing is the salsa! Here is one of their forks for size reference……. For $15……..

#2 location: The cooks do not change gloves or practice hand hygiene. Today the cook came to the counter and started manipulating the register with the same greasy gloves he used to cook my food. This not the first time. They frequently clean as they go back there with the same gloves they are cooking your food. I believe they could benefit for more training.

The carne asada & adobada fries are good but I wouldn’t recommend the California burrito from there.

Food was ok. Nothing to complain about but the service could be better. Wasn't bad at first but I did stay a couple of hours waiting for my phone repair next door and they mare me feel very uncomfortable. Maybe It was shift change or something but maybe ask before assuming someone is loiterring. Shame on them.
If I could give it zero stars I would. Young man behind the grill was asked to go in the back and make a Chamango. He left his greasy gloves on and stoped to blow his nose and pick his nostril with a paper towel with his gloves on. Threw out the paper towel but kept his gloves on. When I called out to him he ignored me ( possibly did not hear me or does not speaks English). Cashier did not speak to young man but spoke to female and male cook at the grill in Spanish who did not say anything to young man. They just shrugged their shoulders. I warned the person who had ordered the Chamango. Food was sub par taste and presentation. Service was deplorable. Price was $16.50 for plate with cheap soda can drink that would not let you get a fountain drink as substitute. For that price? Questionable business ethics of manager/owner in my opinion. Fountain sodas are pennies in cost to them, why no substitution?
