El Rinconcito Taco Shop

Mediocre at best. Was looking forward to eating here from the reviews. Called for pick-up. Rolled tacos were more like rolled tortillas with a tiny amount of beef. The surf and turf was good but needs chipotle sauce. The meat in the Carne asada fries were good but the fries are not. They forgot our drinks had to drive back.

The pilgrimage to this establishment, spurred by the insistent, bright noise of the digital echo chamber, proved to be an exercise in tempered expectation. Specifically, the California Burrito—that regional standard-bearer—was a curiously perfunctory offering. While structurally sound, the interior failed to deliver the necessary complexity; the textures were present, yet the essential harmony, the coalescence of flavor that defines greatness, was conspicuously absent. The experience left one adrift in a sea of merely adequate execution. In a landscape where the artistry of Armando's Mexican Food remains the established, non-negotiable benchmark, this new contender falls short of the true culinary meridian. The performance earns, regrettably, a measured three stars, a rating reflecting effort, but a profound lack of gastronomic soul.

The best family ran and owned taco shop in the world hands down. I have a family of 5 we come here at least 1 to 2 times a week. Food is always fresh and hot and the prices or unbeatable. Please if there’s anyone that does food reviews in San Diego add El Rinconcito Taco Shop to your to go list! I’ll pay for your meal!

Ever since they opened a while back, this has been my go-to burrito spot. You can tell they cook with high-quality ingredients and the people who work here are always kind. The place is generally buzzing, so you know this is a go-to spot for a lot of people.

Visiting from Texas for 10 days and I’ve already eaten here three times! The asada burrito and special breakfast burrito were excellent. But the surf and turf burrito was hands down the best I’ve had! I wish I could take them back with me!

I am not sure about other customers sense of taste but the food has no flavor. I've tried multiple times and always I am either mildly satisfied or just disappointed. Today I figured I would try again with new ownership but it seems like they just assumed the same recipes and menu as previous owners. I got a breakfast burrito with fries (because they don't have potatoes) and bacon with hardly any bacon. Don't be fooled by the portion size. I would've paid more for less portion size and more flavor.

Can’t resist keep coming back to El Rinconcito and once again, it didn’t disappoint! I ordered the Hot Cheeto Burrito, and let me tell you it’s massive! Easily enough for two people, and still super affordable. Flavor was on point, filling and satisfying, just like every time I’ve been here. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels like a true family spot comfortable, casual, and full of good vibes. If you’re looking for solid Mexican food that hits the spot without breaking the bank, this is it. Highly recommend!
