My father in law use to frequent and loved this place when he was stationed in San Diego 40 years ago, so it was a must stop during our vacation. It was an overall C. Nothing special, food and service just ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to get good here.

I absolutely love this restaurant. Great pizza and salads with so many other choices to pick from you can't possibly go wrong here. Service is top flight too.. the staff are always prompt, courteous, and attentive. If you are looking for something Italian to eat in a casual atmosphere, this place is second to none.Overall a wonderful family friendly dining establishment.

Today my family and I came to dinner and the guy in the lobby ignored us for 10 minutes because he was on the phone and then another family arrived and attended to them immediately, ignoring us, still a nice place, shame about the employees who are unprofessional. I won't come back here anymore.

Menu is limited compared to little Italy. ??Good Friday Spaghetti was good. Service was just ok… empty crushed red pepper on the table asked for a full one but didn’t get it.

Wow. Not sure what changed but the quality of the food is in the dumps. Both the pizza and wings we had were bland. The wings tasted old and like if they were reheated in the microwave. The works pizza was bland. The service was great, as it’s ever been. We will probably not come back again.

I have a weakness for old school Italian restaurants. You know, the ones with red-and-white checkered vinyl tablecloths, empty chianti bottles used for décor and dusty old trellises up near the ceiling of the dining room. Where you can always get decent pasta and a carafe of something red. So I was optimistic when I stopped into Filippi's recent for an early supper. Sadly, my meal was a big disappointment. The house salad was little more than roughly chopped lettuce, topped with a giant serving of croutons out of a box. The garlic bread had a texture that suggested stale bread more than toasted. It arrived cold and barely covered with the lightest coating of some butter-like spread. No parsley and certainly no garlic. My penne with meat sauce featured cold limp pasta and a puddle of water at the bottom of the bowl. My server recommended adding a sausage, which had a texture that suggested it had been cooked in a microwave. Inexplicably, my entrée was served with a second order of lousy garlic bread. The house chianti wasn't bad, and unlike a lot of restaurants the dining room wasn't filled with blasting music. So I guess that's something. After delivering the food my server vanished. After finishing and waiting for quite some time for my check, I wandered around until I found her. When I asked for my check, she denied being my server and asked where I was seated. I pointed out the table. "Oh yeah, I guess I was your server." The bill came to about $36, which was about $30 too much. Don't be fooled by the homey web site and the online photos. This place might have been good when the Beatles were popular. But these days you're better off at the Olive Garden.
