Their pizza was delicious!! That crust was so fluffy and the garlic knots were amazing. Also the ranch is fire! Good price and huge pizza!! Thank you Groundswell, highly recommend for local SD people and travelers.

I found this place on accident. I saw they had pizza so I had to go in for a slice and a pint. Some of the best pizza in the San Diego area. Local brews. And friendly staff. I go here all the time. Love this place.

First time here and pizza did not dissapoint, also good beer! Is the thin, crispy type of pizza, delish. The bartender told us they make all the bread in the house and it is really good. I will try the sandwich next time. So happy to find good eating spots in Chula Vista !

They cancel your online orders 10 minutes before scheduled pickup and think that's ok. Don't bother with this place.

I’m a frequent customer to the place and love coming back to them. It’s a chill place to come through to chill, talk, and have a good drink. Drinks and food are good. Especially their pizzas. However, the downsize of their pizzas (although good) is that it can be too greasy. This is something that management should take into consideration cause it doesn’t look too tempting.

I was really looking forward to visiting this spot while in town for just a day. We planned our evening around stopping in after an event, specifically because their listed hours said they were open until midnight. Unfortunately, when we arrived around 9:30—while the Padres game was still in the 8th inning—we were told they had already done last call and were closing up.

It was disappointing, not just because of the early close, but also because the vibe wasn’t very welcoming. I wish we could’ve stayed to enjoy a few beers and some food while catching the end of the game. If closing times vary from what’s posted online, I really hope they update that info. It’s not fun to miss out on a new place when you’ve made a point to visit.

Groundswell Brewing on Third Avenue in Chula Vista is the kind of spot that feels like a neighborhood hangout—relaxed, welcoming, and all about good beer and great pizza. Whether you're stopping by for a casual drink or settling in for a few rounds with friends, it’s the perfect place to unwind. They’ve got a couple of TVs, making it a solid choice for catching a game while sipping on a craft brew.

Speaking of beer, their tap list is stacked. You’ll find their house brews alongside a rotating selection of local favorites, plus a few guest beers to keep things interesting. And if you’re looking for a deal, happy hour runs all day Monday, so there’s no bad time to drop in.

Now, let’s talk about the real reason to come here—the pizza. Groundswell serves up some of the best pies around, with a crust that strikes the perfect balance between crisp and chewy, and toppings that are fresh, creative, and full of flavor. Pro tip: Tuesdays are the ultimate pizza night, with all pizzas in the restaurant at half price.

A lot of people don’t realize they have a patio, but they do—and it’s a fantastic one. Chill, dog-friendly, and wheelchair accessible, it’s the perfect spot to kick back with a cold beer and a fresh pizza under the open sky.

If you're wondering what to order, two pizzas stand out:

The Sweet Heat – This one hits all the right notes: spicy Fresno chilies bring the heat, Italian sausage adds a savory punch, and sweet figs balance it all out. The combination is bold, unexpected, and completely addictive.
The Callabasita – Light but packed with flavor, this pizza features tender zucchini, creamy ricotta cheese, and a touch of lemon zest that makes it pop. The zest brightens everything up, giving it a fresh, vibrant taste that lingers in the best way.
Between the great beer selection, unbeatable pizza, and laid-back atmosphere, Groundswell Brewing is the kind of place that keeps you coming back for more.

If someone has a better pizza place in CHULA. LMK. Even in SD. Karrah let me play some songs, and she was a great bartender. Fast and reliable. and they have a GREAT selection of beer. I might become a regular at this hidden gem. If you haven't come here, YOU ARE MISSING OUT.

Edit: I HAVE become a regular. The bad reviews are horseshit. Celeste is in the picture and a great bartender. This place has multiple options for food, but my opinion on the pizza still stands. If you're not checking it out, you're wrong!

Been here more than once, and no problem. Tonight was different, though. We were with friends, and we ordered garlic knots. Our friends were getting their order and we were still waiting for ours. I went in and told the girl we hadn't received our order she said "ok it should be coming out." A while goes by, and we still hadn't received our order, so I went in a second time and said we still haven't received our knots. She said "ok I will let them know." By this time, it's already an hour gone by and come to find out that they gave someone else our order. When my husband went to close out our tab, he mentioned the situation, and there was no customer service. There was no apology, or we'll take it off your tab. We won't be going back.
