My standard items to try at a new sushi restaurant are a Caterpillar roll and rainbow roll. Pros-nice looking restaurant was a good amount of tables and a reasonable sized sushi bar. Restaurant was clean. Service was reasonably quick and friendly. Plenty of parking available Cons- the food unfortunately. The crab mix in the rainbow roll was a bit salty. The caterpillar roll was a bit lite on the unagi (eel) If the restaurant can't pull these off, makes me wonder what can prepare well

Came in for a quick father-son dinner. Waitress (older Hispanic female) didn't seem too interested to service us and checked up on us maybe twice during the entire meal. Cameron, the other sushi chefs behind the bar, and other wait staff took care of us and gave us a better experience. I regret not having cash on hand to give them the tip they deserve. If I come back, it'll definitely be because of them.Food was fresh and delicious, definitely no complaints there. Food came out at a reasonable pace, considering how busy the restaurant was.

The food was good and the service was pretty solid. The place isn’t that big inside and was packed, but I was seated faster than I expected. I would definitely go again and recommend it ?Vegetarian options: There’s not a bunch of vegetarian options but it’s enough to enjoy

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but came in excited to try a new sushi spot and found a new top favorite sushi spots; From the miso soup quality, the fried rice, and the munchies roll. I have no doubt the rest of the menu items taste good also. Bye for now! #

Located in a large shopping plaza. There is plenty of parking. Service was great. Everyone greeted me upon entering the restaurant. We were seated right away. Food review:Miso soup: (4/5)The broth had great flavor. The tofu had a weird taste. Edamame: (3/5)Mediocre edamame. Not really flavored well. Undercooked today. Salmon sashimi: (5/5)Tasted very fresh. The portion size was good too. Salmon avocado roll: (5/5)Salmon was fresh. Simple roll, but always delicious. Philadelphia roll w/ eel sauce: (5/5)Ordered with regular salmon, no smoked and added avocado instead of cucumber. Very good. Lemon cilantro roll: (5/5)Surprised by how tasty this roll was. The little dash of sriracha gives the roll a nice kick and a nice balance with the lemon on top. Overall tasty roll. I'd order it again. Definitely give this place a try if you want a quick bite to eat. Service was quick. Restaurant is clean. Food is delicious.

This is now my favorite sushi spot in Chula Vista. The first time I tried it was two weeks ago when my sister ordered chicken/shrimp hibachi and a salmon teriyaki bowl through UberEats. Ever since then, we have had two more food deliveries from them, and I even dined at the restaurant this past week. To my surprise, when I went on a Monday night around 7:15pm, almost every single table was occupied. Luckily, my group of three was able to be seated within minutes. Everything that I have tried from Ika has been a 10/10, with the exception of the chicken/shrimp hibachi. The fried rice and shrimp were flavorful, but the chicken was on the dry side. Aside from that, amazing! The salmon teriyaki bowl is a fan favorite in my household. The salmon is always cooked to perfection and the sauce that it's cooked with (and used on the vegetables and rice) is perfect and not too sweet like other places. I think their ahi tuna tostadas are my favorite dish they have. It has a little bit of heat to it, and they really pack on the tuna. I feel like I got more tuna when I ordered via UberEats versus in person, but I think it is the restaurant being generous for their online orders. Their steak teriyaki bowl, gyoza, sashimi/nigiri and sushi rolls I have tried have all been a hit. I have no complaints when it comes to the quality of the food. When I dined in, the sushi took a little while to get to the table, likely because it was pretty packed. Our waitress was really sweet, but towards the end (since it was later in the evening), I think she was focused more on cleaning because my friends ran out of water and we were waiting a good minute for the bill. Overall, this is a great spot -- location-wise, price-wise and food-wise.
