Chula Vista institution. Best of the "Mom and Pop" original family Italian restaurants. Consistently great food, service and value. Having eaten here since the early sixties as a toddler, this was our last time before we move to Florida. You will be missed!!

As a Canadian in San Diego on emergency trip. Our first Dinner in San Diego was at LA Bella Pizza. Atmosphere was relaxing, service was outstanding and fast. Decor was nostalgic.
Food was superb.
Place was packed, we only waited 10 minutes to be seated.
This restaurant is DEFINITELY worth visiting. ty LA Bella

It truly breaks my heart to be writing this review, as La Bella’s has been such a big part of our family’s story.
My husband grew up in La Bella’s, and fondly remembers the times Kitty and Papa would wave to him from the kitchen door as he walked by, gave him free pizzas, and even sat him on the counter to talk while making pizzas. When we met, he introduced me to the magic that was La Bella’s pizza (and lasagna!), and it quickly became our go-to date spot, and when our oldest was born, our place of choice for a family night out.
When we moved from California, it was the place we missed the most, and the first place we went when we moved back. When my husband enlisted in the Army, and once again, we had to leave, it was the place we reminisced about, and the first place we would come whenever we would visit San Diego.
My husband retired from the Army this past spring, and we were fortunate enough to be able to make our way back home, excited to come grab a pizza for dinner once again. On August 1, 2024, my husband surprised me with a family portrait session at the studio near La Bella’s. It was one last portrait in his uniform, a throwback to the pinks and greens of WWII. After our photo session, we decided to finish off the evening with a pizza from La Bella’s. My husband called in our order, and we waited just outside until it was ready.
After the 20 minutes we were told had passed, my husband went inside to pick up our order, still in full uniform. He was immediately met with glares from a member of the kitchen staff, and as he was walking out with our pizza, this staff member commented “It’s just a Halloween costume”. It was loud enough for my husband to hear and to know it was directed at him, even without it being said directly to his face.
My husband served honorably for 15 years, and would have gladly continued to do so, had the Army not determined that the injuries he received as a result of his service left him totally and permanently disabled, and medically retired him from the service.
The attitude and behavior displayed by this staff member left such an impression that, after more than 30 years of patronage, we have not returned since. As a family, we are deeply hurt and disheartened by my husband’s treatment, and if this kind of unprofessional, disrespectful display is something that La Bella’s now condones, we will not be returning.

A Sunday crowd packed the place. Hoping to see a game while eating dinner seemed slim. I knew what I wanted and was promptly served. The bar tender was taking orders left & right. Crunchy moist fish and limp chips was not half bad. The odd part was the cold slaw. The familiar funk of infrastructure gas added an uncomfortable flavor to the cold slaw. Either that or I'm talking fart. The beer managed to kill the offence. Is the problem food storage or what?

My family has been patronizing this restaurant for the better part of 50+ years. They've been around for a while, and were possibly in a different location many moons ago. The back part of the restaurant was added maybe 7+ years ago, which is great! There's an arcade for kids, a few billiard tables, and plenty more seats. I remember as a kid sitting in the main restaurant when the walls had carpet. The food here is top-shelf! Pizza is incredibly substantial--you'll only need 2 pieces. Great tasting spaghetti, anti-pasta salad is also fabulous, and they have THE BEST garlic bread on the planet, hands down! The service is always great! Love this Chula Vista gem!

Old school pizzeria. Great for a family gathering. We ordered family style Lasagna. While it was tasty, the center was still cold. Could have used so additional time in oven. The rest of it food was great. Parking can be a challenge here.

Nice local pizza place, large selection. Personal pizza was too big for 1 meal. Very friendly staff. Wine is more on the expensive side, but the same as everywhere else.

I love this place that is why I continue to come here, and STILL will, but today I was HIGHLY disappointed, for the 1st time I order for carry out rather then dine in,
To my surprise I found out that if you get the Lasagna dinner to go you DO NOT get the side salad the you get when dining in oh but it's the same price? guess I will just have to dine in?
