So sorry to hear and report they are closed. I also just saw on Nextdoor Digest app that someone called and they got answer why it was closing. They said "FYI Miguel's Cocina in Eastlake is permanently closed. Their lease was up and the owner of the building raised the rent too high (per the person who answered the phone at Miguel's today)." Oh man... that sucks but at least there are other Miguel's I can still go to. Too bad, this was closer to me. I do like their food, especially their jalapeí±o cheese sauce with chips!!!!!!

I went there last Thursday with my wife, adult son and my daughter in law. 1st off the server was great-friendly and attentive. Chips and cheese sauce were spot on as is the norm. Now the bad, I asked for three different beers and it was a complete strike out. my wife ordered decaf coffee and it was old and cold. They didn't have anything I asked for. It's time to update the menu to reflect what they actually have. The Gorditas as an appetizer were huge, but the tortillas were dry as a bone. The surf and turf burrito was big, but it lacked real flavor as it was masked with a canned enchilada sauce. My daughter in law was pleased with her tacos al pastor. Bottom line, overall it was a true disappointment. Miguel is obviously designed for clientele that don't know squat about comida mexicana.

I went there party once at the bar on Father's Day the place was busy they didn't look backed up they were able to handle it everybody was moving together the first thing I notice is everybody made eye contact spoke to you made you feel friendly and welcome and I found everybody's behavior and work ethics very professional and it seemed like everybody had a lot of Pride and what they do in the fact that they work for Miguel's I was very impressed. I will say I ordered a surf and turf burrito which was so good at the Padre game I had to come in in person to try it bigger bang for buck side of beans and rice comes wet and has guacamole and sour cream I had it cut in half so I could take the other half home since I wouldn't have enough time to eat the whole thing there and my half did not come with sour cream guacamole and was not wet I didn't quite understand that part but I did find out they ran out of guacamole I honestly never heard of a Mexican restaurant running out of guacamole but it was Father's Day and half my burrito had it so I was okay.

First the chips and salsa plus a really good cheese dip are great. We had margaritas and sangria and that was perfect. The Flautas are omg good. The service was friendly and made us feel like we were welcome and appreciated. Go to this place. Quit reading and go!

The food and service is good, the 4% " service fee" they add to the bill isn't!! They've been doing this for years saying the same thing " it's for employees wages that are going to go up". It started at 3% a few years back when the city of San Diego was going to raise the minimum wage. This Miguel's isn't even in the city of San Diego. It's in the city of Chula Vista. This fee is a rip-off! Miguel's should be ashamed of themselves!

I got 4 meals Togo and got 2 cheese sauces that we had to basically beg for. I was also charged 1.75 for salsa. They give this cheese sauce away at the restaurant and with 4 meals I can't get 1 for each meal? So now there's a bad review over cheese sauce. When I called the manager he really didn't care and said its policy one sauce per 4 meals and with two I got hooked up. This guy needs more training in customer service and sales. I didn't want a free meal just a cheese sauce with each meal. The food is good but wow this place must be hurting to be that cheap. I would have been so happy with two small containers of cheese sauce. One more time.....cheese sauce

Had a great meal here with the family last week. Our waiter's name was Adrian and he provided outstanding service to our table. The food was delicious and the employees were very friendly. We love their white cheese sauce and salsa as well.

Went here for my birthday dinner with my family last week. Food was good, lighting was a bit dark for me. Not too busy usually when we go. They do have a small bar and a nice outdoor patio area. Cool for families with babies. A great authentic Mexican theme with great chips and jalapeí±o cheese dip.

I came here for lunch with my MIL and my daughter. Overall had a good experience the only downside was they were out of something she wanted so she was a little bummed. I had a raspberry mojito and it was really good! I had the flautas with a side of rice and beans. The food was really good and they gave big portions. Staff was very friendly, hostesses were smiling and helped me with accommodating my one year old. Waitress was very nice too but we barely saw her. Nice place, it's a tad dim in here but it was easy to move my stroller around.

This place has the worst food ever. Went there for a bday dinner and all of the meats we ordered was very dry. Otherwise the decorations look pretty cool and service is alright. I would personally go where else where they care about quality of food like my mom's kitchen.

This is a great place to get some great Mexican food. It is located in Eastlake in Chula Vista right by the target on Otay Lakes Road. This is an unexpected great find in the Eastlake area. We had some delicious Mexican food here. It was authentic, delicious, and use fresh ingredients and spices, which are very delicious and tasty. The atmosphere was very relaxing and inviting. He was a very clean restaurant. The ambience and the decorations were wonderful. Overall, the food was amazing and the prices are pretty comfortable and great. Our server, Jason, was very friendly and professional. He provided us with many recommendations and suggestions on food items. My family felt very welcome and felt like we were at home. Big shout out and thank you to Jason, our server for the wonderful service and excellent care. Our family will be coming back with other family members and friends to eat at Miguel's very soon. Great food, great people, and a wonderful experience. A+ service. Five stars all the way!

I'm updating my review due to a policy change at Miguel's. They have started adding a 4% surcharge to the bill to cover the "increase costs in wages." This is a disingenuous practice. If their costs have gone up add it to the price of the meal. What's next- A rent increase surcharge, an energy surcharge, a climate change surcharge? This practice will only hurt their excellent staff by having some customers take some or all of the 4% surcharge from the tip. I give Miguel's staff 4 Stars; the food 3 Stars; and management idea of a 4% surcharge Zero stars. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area that are just as good or better and they don't tack on a insidious surcharge to the bill. I will be patronizing these in the future.

Great experience! The staff was helpful and it was not busy. We were able to sit immediately and start drinking! Good times with good people.

Best thing about this restaurant is the cheese dip you get with the chips and salsa. The entree is good, but nothing extremely special.

Visiting my mom from Texas and we wanted Mexican food. Came to Miguel's because of the reviews. I enjoyed the food and the drinks. Wish the queso tasted a bit better but it wasn't horrible. Would recommend.
