Papagayos Grill and Cantina

We were there for New Year's Eve. The music was wonderful. Our food was delicious. The cost was very reasonable. Our waitress Ellen was very efficient. This was our second time going, we are already planning another visit.

We celebrated NYE here and it was fantastic. So many great menu choices! Nice staff and the live music was a bonus.

Food was good, but overall service was abysmal. We waited for one of courses for close to 30 minutes because the server forgot to ring it in.

We were staying at Legoland but as a group of grown-ups and teenagers we didn't particularly want to have the on-site food dinner for my 52nd birthday! So I asked the bartender at Legoland for a recommendation and he said Le Papagayo The food was extraordinary! Our waitress was darling and extremely nice, and the live band was phenomenal playing a fantastic mix of salsa and cover music. A lot of of the restaurant is dominated by a large screen televisions but if that's not what you want there is other seating available and you can ask for it I had the three tacos and chose the cheese (low carb) tortillas instead of regular tortillas and it was inventive and delicious ! A very creative fun and fabulous space and I highly recommend everybody loved their dinners 

We frequent Le Papgayo both in Leucadia and Carlsbad quite a bit and this was a bad experience unfortunately. Our waiter was just not good or helpful. Other servers kept coming over to ask if we've been helped yet. Not sure if he just had an off night or didn't want to be there over the holidays? We sat in the band room and knew it would be loud and hoping fun. As it turns out, the singers family was sitting at the table next to us. He was singing songs he wrote and had meaning to them. We were having normal table conversations and kept getting the stink eye from the mom. We literally had to be quiet as it became very awkward. We didn't come to see a concert, we came for dinner and to enjoy our own company while listening to background music. Overall, a bad experience!

It was wonderful. The singer was excellent and the food was delicious. We had the strawberry goat salad for starters. Then shared the filet strongonoff. It was excellent

Great evening! Food was great, our server was awesome, (wish I could remember her name!). The music was really good! Fun night!

I continue to be disappointed by this restaurant. First, the noise level is not conducive to having a conversation at a level other than shouting at each other. Then the live music starts, which adds to the frustration and indigestion. On a positive note, I commend them for cutting out seed oils in their cooking. The beef tallow fries are thin, crisp and excellent. However, the steak sandwich I ordered was practically inedible and certainly not worth the $28 they were charging. I kept wondering why there was no flavor, and I opened the sandwich to find grey, mealy, grainy  lumps of “meat“ that look like it had been previously chewed and spit out.  Fortunately, the manager agreed that this was not “up to their standards“ and took it off my bill. But this is not the first time I've had a disappointing and overpriced meal here which is unfortunate as I am a local and I really want this place to be good and succeed. 

We hosted our work holiday party at Le Papagayo and had a great experience. The food was delicious, drinks were well made, and the atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming. The staff was attentive and handled our group smoothly. A great spot for a work celebration.

Le Papagayo is always a delightful experience. A delightful staff and a tremendous menu. It's my favorite restaurant in Carlsbad.

We had a great 10-person birthday party for my husband. The food was great. The service was slow.

Nice place . We liked the live music but te speakers were too loud. Also, would like to have seen him live rather than on video from some room no one could see. It was like watching tv.

Ari was our server and he was AMAZING. A group of 6 and he was energetic and fun. The food was very fresh and delicious. Ari made great recommendations and checked on us regularly. Will definitely be back!

Super disappointed with this experience. Tonight was My Son’s 22nd birthday and we came In and there was about 10 of us which they were able to accommodate. The server acted as if it was a problem that we needed her or any type of assistance, I think that because they add the 18% gratuity, they don’t think they have to do great service because they’re getting the tip anyway. We had to ask for refills and I had to ask another server for the bill. The food was OK. I think that they easily get away with this type of behavior because the area that they are in, If somebody was coming in and spending 250 I would be one of the best servers you could imagine. We won’t be returning.

Took forever to get our food. Offered a free desert, however , our choice was unavailable. We were compt one dinner. Felt sorry for our server who tried to be understanding.
