My hubs and I went to this place for the very first time on Sunday around 10am. We had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated which was expected on a Sunday. We were seated outside which was pleasant considering San Diego weather. The environment was inviting with soft pink seats and tables accented with gold utensils and white napkins with their label printed in pink. I must say the environment was a good experience considering we aren’t into pink. We enjoyed and appreciate the look and colors chosen.

Our experience was great until we began to be served. To start, we ordered coffee and iced peach tea. It took almost 15 minutes just for my hubs to receive his warm coffee and an additional 10 minutes after that for me to get my tea. Instead of bringing both out at the same time, the waiter brought out one before the other. My hubs got his coffee first, then I got my tea 10 minutes later. Our food came 20 minutes after my husbands coffee. It doesn’t make sense to wait for our order longer than it took to be seated unless you are at stake house. Usually an effective business would bring both out at the same time. Not sure why it would take so long to bring out peach tea that taste like you licked a balloon. This tea was terrible! I’ve had better canned tea from a gas station.

Our first meal ordered was the birriaquiles (chilaquiles with Birria) with an added order of eggs to it. First of all why would you have to “add” eggs to it when it should be part of the meal. Second, it was $4 to add one egg. Seriously? The egg looked like a flat half slice of bread all for $4. I was able to gulp down the egg in two bites. Pretty expensive add on. The tortillas on the top were crispy and coated with green chile sauce but I only had two chips with that wonderful texture since the bowl was almost half filled with the sauce. I love chili verde but don’t drown the chips in it. The rest of the chips were so soaked that it taste like I was eating noodles. The meal came with pickled onions which were good but it was way too salty. The combination of pickled onions and chile verde sauce made the dish too salty. Maybe regular red onions would be good. Now, for the birria, it taste like canned beef. Pretty cheap dry texture with NO birria seasoning, just dry meat. I ended up unpleasantly slurping my noodle chip dry birria soup.

The second meal was “Revuleto” (eggs and Avocado slices, corn tortillas, and bacon. I can’t believe this meal was $18. The portion size of this meal was too small. My hubs finished this pretty try fast. On the plus side, the bacon, eggs, and avocado was pleasant. The corn tortillas (3 of them) were delicious but we have had better. For that price we were hoping for a better taste and portion size.

Overall, the food for this place was mediocre in taste and overpriced. If you’re looking for a place with good food, don’t come here. The food here was very bland. You can go to another place and get a better portion size and taste for the value. The only thing this place has over everyone else is the decor of the environment and the plating. Just because the meal is presented good doesn’t mean it taste like a $20 plate.

Don’t get me wrong, this place isn’t all bad, it’s the taste of the food. I don’t think anyone comes here for the food, Instead they come for the environment and presentation of the food. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s just not what we are looking for. Sometimes you just wanna take your friends or your family to a very nice looking place. If you want a place where it looks Wonderfully decorated, themed, with an elegant style, this is the place for you. If you’re looking for a place with really good food, nope, it doesn’t cut it. I gave one star for the environment and one star for plate presentation but that’s it. We are definitely not going to be back.

I wanted to like this place but unfortunately I won’t be back. At the door they have a sassy paper posted letting you know not to overstay your welcome, there’s a limit of 90 minutes. That should’ve been our first clue to eat somewhere else.
My food was bland and overpriced for the portion size. I wanted to pull out my magnifying glass to see what I had on my plate. My friend was wondering where the rest of her food was. We left hungry.

Cute for a picture outside, but we won’t be back. We were seated inside and the noise was amplified. The chairs screeched the tile floor and it sounded like nails on a chalkboard - please make sure there is padding on the bottom of the chairs - and the children screaming made it worse. Children are wonderful, but acoustic panels on the blank pink walls would likely help lower the volume when others are there for conversation during their meal.
The food … got the eggs/bacon/avocado/tortilla….Denny’s is likely better. Bacon was under cooked, tortillas were tiny, and it was the 3 smallest slices of avocado. Not worth the $18 for the plate. The regular coffee was also awful - Starbucks across the way would have been better and less expensive.
Service crew was nice, but they were overwhelmed and could have used an additional team member.

Love this tiny pink cafe! Perfect for bff/sister brunch! We had the birria chilaquiles, cafe de olla, breakfast croissant and latte which we devoured. Also, had their crispy vegan chick'n before and it did not disappoint! I recommend that you call ahead because the wait can be long however its worth it!

I did like that they had clearly marked vegan items but really only two main options. The vegan Chilaquiles and the non-chicken sandwich. Unfortunately, I ordered the vegan Chilaquiles without the extra chicken on the side which I regretted, and I was looking hungrily at my son‘s chicken sandwich. It needed something extra, even some beans would’ve made a big difference. The chicken sandwich was good, but did not have any extras and it was lonely on the plate. We got some extra fries, but they were a bit greasy. In the end, it is OK if you are in the area, but there are better options if you’re willing to travel to Cheesecake Factory

Since I'm not from the area and I can't get a hold of anyone on the phone, I'm writing this in hopes I can get help. We were a group of 5 adults and a child. The 5 adults ordered Birriaquiles and Tacos de birria, and we all got sick the same night from the same thing, stomach infection. The only one who didn't get sick was the child since he only ate the mini pancakes. This restaurant was the only one we had that day. I'm asking for a refund. Thank you
