We came in from las vegas and decided to try THE BALBOA SOUTH after hearing good things. We were not disappointed. The overall environment was clean, up beat, and family oriented. The centennial burger was massive and cooked medium the way I like it. The garlic fries, and salt and pepper fries were on point. The dark horse stout awesome!. Okay in done. Definitely will be going back before our trip is done.

This place is absolutely amazing! I had such a great time here and the service was fantastic! The burgers and fries are delicious. I feel that the prices are very fair for the deliciousness of of it all. I went with a group of friends for my birthday and it was a great experience. I definitely plan to go back.

My family and I have been here many times before and we loved the food and the service. We haven't been here since last year so the change in ordering the food and beverages threw us off. While we don't ever mind the changes, what we did mind was that I had to find someone to order food after sitting at a table for 15 minutes. I dont know if they were short staffed that day or the fact they had a big partu in the back, but service is just as important as the food served. Every business does things for a reason but if you change something that was efficient before, making sure the change is still effective is a big thing. If it weren't for the fact that we were craving their burgers, we would have left.

Went in on a Wednesday, so it wasn't too busy. The boyfriend and I wanted a good burger and I had seen this place a few times. Finally got to go in and enjoy one of the best burgers I've had. The bartender who ended up being the owner served us and kept us company, she was so friendly and amazing. She seems so down to earth and did an amazing job with the place. We loved it and are definitely coming back! Don't let this place pass you up, go and try it!!! It had been some time since we dined here and when we returned, we were surprised they had gone from counter ordering (like Habit Burger), to full service dining where you now get your order taken by a server at your table. I can say this beats the old way and am happy with the owner’s decision to modify their order taking method. The dining room also got a slight rearrangement as it appeared to be more open, yet seat more patrons. It almost felt like an entirely different restaurant with the same great burgers you were used to having before. Anyway, my wife and I split their Centennial Burger (DOUBLE PATTY, DOUBLE BACON, DOUBLE AMERICAN CHEESE, LETTUCE, TOMATO, ONION, HOUSEMADE ZESTY AIOLI) and their large HAND-CUT, BLANCHED, FRIED TWICE AND TOSSED WITH SALT AND PEPPER. I also ordered their FRESH BREWED ICED TEA. My wife just had their free CUCUMBER INFUSED ICED WATER. The burger was beyond delicious!!! It’s one of the best burger in San Diego hands down! It was fresh, juicy, tasty, and made with care. The accompanying fries were also delicious, they also serve a garlic fries version but we didn’t order that during this visit. Our server had the kitchen split our burger and brought out on individual plates for us. So glad this location is less than 2 miles from us because everything about Balboa Bar & Grill is top notch. Rumor has it that the ownership group is planning a speakeasy cocktail bar to offer inside this already awesome spot, if and when that occurs, this spot will be the hit of downtown Chula Vista, if it’s not already!

I ordered the BBQ bacon burger. The sauce-to-burger ratio was so perfect. The garlic fries were a banger, and the salt and pepper were fire too! They have a pretty big space to host events and a good kick it spot. I didn't like that I had to keep getting up to refill my own water. They may be understaff and that's why they are doing that method, but overall pretty decent burger and fries!
