They have an eye catching, wallet friendly lunch special with many different broths to choose from. But unfortunately, the ones that we had were watery and not as flavorful as other shabu spots. Meat quality was decent, but the amount seemed little, which made us buy an additional large order of meat for our broth. Came here for lunch on a Friday and they were wide open.. it was a peaceful/quiet lunch.

People have been saying Jazz Cat has gone downhill after COVID, and I can definitely see why. Everything was mediocre. We came during lunchtime because their lunch special seemed like a good deal. Don't get me wrong, it is. I just wouldn't go out of my way to personally come back here again. I got the pork bone broth with beef. The portions are on the smaller side, and the veggies were not as fresh. There was also a funky smell lingering that I couldn't identify. Overall, I would pay a little extra at a place that offers better quality meats/veggies, and most importantly, veggie refills. iykyk.

Great food, quite tasty. I haven't been here since my last trip to California and didn't remember that free refills are not provided.

One of my go-to places in the area. Simple. Solid personal hotpot. I always get the t-rex lamb sukiyaki with ponzu sauce. Love that they have this extra meat option. Everything comes out fairly quickly. There's plenty amount of veggies. The lamb has a slight gamey taste, but it's still just so delicious.

Choice of meat: Angus beef, t-rex Thinly sliced angus beef. I usually prefer my beef a little fattier but it was a good ratio of meat to fat. T-rex just means you get more meat and less veggies for the same price which was totally worth it! I can tell you that I've never taken shabu shabu leftovers home before, but I had sooo much meat left I didn't have a choice bc ya girl grew up in a Viet household where you don't waste any food. Broth: Thai green curry They have the largest selection of broths I've ever seen at a shabu shabu restaurant. I got the Thai green curry which had one chili sign. I can handle some spice, but I don't think it was spicy enough. So if you're a spice lover, I'd go with a broth that has two chili signs, and maybe even pair it with a spicy dipping sauce. I ended up putting some sesame sauce in my broth to add more flavor to it which turned out pretty good. Dipping sauce: Japanese sesame & ponzu I chose the sesame and ponzu sauces to dip my meat with. The menu read one but our server said you can get up to two at a time, and can ask for more throughout your meal! I was happy with my selections so I asked for the same refills, but I believe you can switch up your sauces too. Extras: Default came with white rice and I also paid extra for instant noodles. For our appetizer, we got the golden fish balls which is my go-to at a lot of restaurants. It was perfectly fried on the outside, and it's not dripping oil when you bite into it. Customer service: It was great! At some restaurants, I hate it when I ask someone walking by for something and they're like ok let me get your server but it ends up taking forever still. Here, multiple people helped us out (more napkins, drink and sauce refills, togo boxes). Everyone was tentative and showed a sense of urgency. Our server did a great job of following up but not rushing us when we weren't ready to order. Also asked if we had any questions and genuinely answered re: fave broths/spice level instead of giving us some bs answers. Wait time: We were a party of two and came a little after opening on a Sunday, so there was no wait. Vibes: Restaurant was dimly lit. Our table was spacious for two and fit all our food. I can't recall what type of music was playing but it wasn't too loud bc I was able to have a conversation from across the table. The last time I ate here was maybe over 10 years ago and I couldn't remember what the hype was about, but today reminded me of why I used to come here all the time!

We came here for dinner on a random Thursday night and were seated immediately. You can choose your type of broth, choice of meat, and sauce. Each order also comes with a platter of vegetables (lettuce, cabbage, mushrooms, pumpkin, corn, etc.), and an egg. I ordered the spicy miso broth with the beef (extra meat). You get a decent amount of food for the price point. A single order is definitely more than enough for one person to eat. It's hot pot style food, but for the individual. Overall, I didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary, but it's a pretty solid option if you're looking for some affordable hot pot on a cold/rainy night!

Food was on the salty side. Service was decent. Ambiance is loud. Overall, I felt the food could have been better for the price.

I had lunch here and I have to say it was pleasant. There was no wait during lunch time and we were seated and had our orders in within 10 minutes. The restaurant has a similar atmosphere as other hot pot places, and the electric hot plate surfaces did keep the increase of temperature of the room to a minimum. I ordered the lunch special B with the Taiwanese spicy broth, premium beef, ponzu sauce, and green tea. Everyone gets their own bowl of broth, and you get a plate of Napa cabbage with a few other sides and a small bowl of rice. The beef was sliced nice and thin and was pretty fresh. The broth was exactly as expected and had nice spicy tones. One of the members of our group ordered the Japanese curry, and I have to admit that did look a bit more appetizing than my order. Either way, Jazz Cat is a worthwhile hot pot option if you are in the area.

Jazz Cat has been a staple in the area for years! I actually think their servings have gotten bigger over the years. I always get T Rex angus beef, creamy Japanese miso and satay sesame sauce. Their fried golden fish balls are really good as well!

Jazz Cat is perfect for this chilly weather! They have plenty of broths to choose from. I wanted miso with just a little spice and the waitress was nice enough to accommodate to my spice liking. They have a good selection of meats as well. I ordered the Wagyu and the quality is great! You can tell the meat is super fresh. The shabu comes with a plate of veggies and noodles. If it's your first time I don't recommend throwing in all your food at once. It'll take the broth a lot longer to heat up and cook. I would throw in things that take longer to cook first and then a few pieces of meats or veggies at a time. I will mention that the wait was pretty long. They do have Yelp Waitlist but it isn't always available through the app. I'm guessing during busier times they turn the option off. Other than the long wait, I love Jazz Cat. The food is always great and the ordering system is very simple and self explanatory.

Visited here with a group of 6 after a day of snowboarding. I'm from out of town, so I didn't know anything about it, and stopped on Yelp to scope it out - hopped on their waitlist when we were about 20 minutes away, and when we got there, we were seated immediately! The decor is very Jazz club-esque: if you only looked at the walls and not at our tables, you'd swear it was a jazz club with the red walls and jazz performer wall art on display everywhere. Our server Jennifer was great, super efficient and QUICK! She took everyone's orders in what was probably the most orderly fashion. Our broths and food came out super quick, and we got to start eating right away! We shared an appetizer of popcorn chicken - super delicious. I'm a shabu newbie, so I followed my family's lead on what to put in the broth, etc. Overall, it was delicious and hit the spot. I got the Angus beef t-rex style (more meat than vegetables), and tried both the Japanese Ponzu and Sesame sauces, though I definitely liked the Ponzu the best... I thought the sesame one was good, but it was an interesting mix of nutty, sweet, and tangy for my taste. My broth was the Pork Broth, and I didn't realize till lated that everyone else got some kind of spicy broth. Mine was relatively bland, at least until the meats and veggies were added. I was slurping that broth at the end of the meal, it was so satisfying! Despite getting t-rex style, the veggies were more than plentiful. I was a big fan of the vermicelli noodles and tofu. The beef was fresh and delicious. The food was very filling. Our servers checked on us frequently enough. I had a great overall experience and would have no hesitation to visit again!

This establishment offers a comfortable ambience with a diverse range of broths to select from. It is recommended that one conducts preliminary research before placing an order to ensure that the chosen broth is compatible with individual taste preferences. In my personal experience, I found the cuisine to be delightful and worth the visit. The establishment was quiet during my weekday visit and the service provided by the attentive staff was exceptional. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a similar experience.
