Great spot to sit down and grab some small plates to share with a friend or date! This is one of the few restaurants that I know that serve yakitori. And they do it exceedingly well! All the other dishes on the menu are worth trying out too!

I adore this spot! They provide excellent dishes, their menu is large, The chef in that place is an expert, I like a lot tasting all their dishes. The dishes are always good, the attitude towards the guests is agreeable. I go often to this restaurant and I was never unhappy. I recommend it to all.

Although the menu got got off several very good stuff such as monk fish liver and oysters during this COVID-19 period, this place is still my favorite Japanese restaurant in this area! Everything is soooo delicious! (the picture was took on this February)

COVID UPDATEI visited in September 2020 on a weeknight with my friend. -Small tables and chairs are set up outdoors six feet apart. -No one was dining indoors, although you can use the restroom inside.-Servers wore masks. My friend and I shared some yakitori. The food was great. We had about 2-3 rounds of small plates. We enjoyed the beef tongue, meatballs, quail eggs, lamb chop, and shiitake mushrooms. My friend liked the gizzard and hearts, but I couldn't stomach that, heh. If I could just complain about the sticky table, I would like to mention that the tabletop felt old and dirty.Parking is ample in their small private lot.

The service is always very good here. The food is decent. The price is fair. I like their scallop and squid. I come here to have small drinks with my friend who lives in that area.

From Honda-ya to Ojiya this place is excellent all around. I've been coming to this location for over 5 years now and I think it's time to give my opinion of the changes over the years.Tonkatsu - perfect Japanese authentic with sauce just like japanSteak - not bad if you like it well done, medium rare by special requestTeriyaki sauce - made from scratch not the stuff that taste like it was bought at a grocery store. I love their teriyaki sauce so much.Yakitori all around good. Never over cooked, meaty with good food portion sizes.Music - was lively J-Pop which was just like akihabara and Tokyo pubs but now they play this crap jazz that just pisses me off that sounds like the crap soundtrack from Carthay circle... who's great idea was this? I will update and knock a star later if they continue this sleeping music at a izakaya drinking pub.

They give 15% off for takeout. I know it's difficult to keep it open during the corona virus, but it's not the same to substitute the quality of the food with discount. I wanted to support local business, but today's deluxe chirashi is just not fresh. Unbearable not fresh. There is no Uni in deluxe today. I called and make sure I got the right thing but they said they substitute the sweet shrimp with Uni. Well the sweet shrimp is not sweet at all, it's not fresh. None of the fish tastes fresh, not even the sushi rice. I was so disappointed! Ojiya's deluxe chirashi used to be my favorite!! If you can't keep up the freshness quality of the fish you should not be serving sushi!! I guess I won't try again during corona virus!

We love that this place stays open late. We come here when we're craving japanese food at like 10PM or when we get out of the theaters late at Puente Hills Mall and need a snack. Their menu is huuuge and there is a lot to choose from. Their sushi is great, their ramen is great, their bento boxes, grilled fish, men mochi, soba, ice cream-- So many options!
