So many tea options! And they brew fresh tea there as well.
Rude employee seems very irritated and unwelcoming made me and my friends uncomfortable with his approach I won’t be supporting this place it’s not fair that people get to smoke and we don’t get to enjoy our snacks while also being customers whom purchased drinks there 👎🏾
Awesome place
I decided to visit the tea house after seeing them on Claremont’s Instagram page. This place needs a warning! Maybe I had a really bad first encounter? Regardless, there were people smoking a joint in the outdoor seating area and a couple slumped together in the corner of cafe. I make my way to the menu and am rudely greeted by, what seemed like the only employee. Bald with glasses. The employee was speaking to another person, cuts them off, then stares at me while I read the handcrafted drink menu. With attitude, he asks if I’ve been here before and if I’m ready. I tell him this was my first time, I don’t know what I want. He says with the most attitude, “So do you not want tea? Because that’s what I’m asking.” That was enough for me to say no thank you, have a good day, and leave! Very disappointing service and atmosphere. Will be telling others to avoid this establishment.
Owner’s selectively rude. Do better man.
I love the teas and food but HATE that they let everyone smoke (everything) at the tables with the doors open. I always nearly have an asthma attack whenever I go here.
Super cool place. Very chill. Awesome Tea
Went with a friend on a whim and wow! Talk about a tea wonderland. When we got our drinks, they come in this huge beer mugs if you get them iced, and they were heavenly. The environment is so chill, lots of people smoking and drawing and talking. Will absolutely be coming back here!
The entrance to the cafe is in alley 39! Not on Yale or 1st :)
The service was good,
the cashier was so nice,
but she doesn't speak English very fluently,
and it was somewhat difficult to communicate,
especially with the noise of the cafe as a whole,
and the atmosphere was decently good too, a lot of people were studying and chatting.
Our drinks however were another story,
I got a taro smoothie which was definitely good but it wasn't great,
the taro flavor was present but a bit weak,
and also it was overly sweet and it felt like a mask to the lack of taro flavor,
My little brother however got a honey mango iced boba,
it was horribly sweet,
it tasted like a lemonade syrup and it screwed up the face of anyone who tried it
(four of us did and each of us had the same reaction, it was SO badly sweet and sour.)
it would've been better if there was 2/3x
as much water.
The boba in the honey mango iced boba was overcooked and mushy,
and the boba in the taro smoothie was undercooked and crumbly.
We will be coming back to try their hot teas since they looked really good though, and the atmosphere was very nice.
Giant mugs of tea with a large variety of loose leaf options. And, the staff is kind and helpful.
Restaurantji Recommends
Extremely unwelcoming environment.. I was disrespected by the cashier despite the fact I was a paying customer for YEARS… I will never again be returning here… Hopefully there is a change of ownership in the near future.
Great spot, wide variety of teas, awesome atmosphere, great service. Could not recommend this place more
Good tea, but whyyy do you let people smoke cigarettes by the OPEN door? It absolutely reeked and I felt dizzy trying to work. Gross!
Beautiful little homey spot, nice owner and regulars
Love this place 20/10
