Gus? What happened? What part of the South made you do this sir?
Came here years ago and it was so yummy. Went yesterday and the sides were no good. The cornbread was good, but why do the BBQ baked beans look like chili? The Mac and cheese was bland and the greens were a little tough. Is Gus on vacation?

First time coming here with the hubs and pup. We are trying to find more pet friendly places so we can include our fur son.
Sat outside. Super nice weather today. Plenty of shade. It was nice because there wasn't too many people but still a lot of distractions to continue to train our pup (he's 3 1/2 but still call him my pup) in public situations.
Had the cast iron skillet cornbread and it was everything that all the reviews say. Melt in your mouth goodness. I did not try the jalapeno jam but the honey butter was good.
I ordered the fried chicken with the mashed potatoes and collard greens. Everything was great. The mashed potatoes were very creamy. I would have liked some texture in them, but good flavor overall.
Husband got the gumbo. Shrimps were tender. Felt like I there wasn't a lot of protien included. 5 or so whole shrimp, very little sausage and chicken. Mainly veggies. The overall taste was good, just need to add a little more protein.
Will more than likely return since it is dog friendly and maybe try some actual BBQ!

This was my first time visiting this place and I say first time because I’ll definitely be back. There was no wait on getting a table. We ordered drinks and an appetizer(deviled eggs). Both came out fast. The drinks were strong and the food was good. Then we ordered our meals. The bbq chicken dinner I ordered was great. The chicken was tender and flavorful. I ordered 4 different sides which you can see in the pictures. All of them were slapping. Meaning, they were good. My wife ordered the catfish and grits to which she said was some of the best ever. Our waitress Jordan was very knowledgeable and polite. She had a sense of humor also. The assistant manager Joe came over to ask how everything was going. This was a surprise because you normally don’t get that at most restaurants. I would definitely recommend going to this place. You won’t be disappointed at all.

The food was good and servings are large. Under staffing hurt as follow-up service didn’t exist. what made things worse that we both had stomach issues shortly after leaving. I really wanted to like gus’s but not worth ruining your day to be by a bathroom. This place is for those with an iron stomach. Its an avoid location and a skip the pasadena location as its a small chain 3 locations.
Came here to hang out with some friends. The food, drink, and service was great. The atmosphere is pretty chill and the waitresses were attentive and made sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend this place for bbq enthusiasts.

We got our dinners to go, but it was so good! Ribs with lots of meat. The creamed corn was so delicious. The collard greens hit just the right spot. Highly recommend and look forward to eating it again! I had a hard time choosing my meal because there were so many tasty looking options.
