We ordered pork chile verde, cornbread, and Caesar salad. Everything was delicious, and the beverages from the bar were good, too. The list of bourbon brands is outstanding. The service was great, too.
The gumbo was not seasoned properly - the dish was returned and replaced by Brick chicken (which was delicious); having made gumbo several times at home, having had it in New Orleans often, and at Angeline's in Berkeley - the gumbo Gus's BBQ served last night did not have the proper roux and gumbo file seasoning. It tasted like a rich tomato based sauce with shrimp and andouille sausage.
Our server did her job. But was not at all welcoming or friendly. She was all business. Her tone was very straight to the point. She came around 2 times to ask if we needed anything. We ordered 3 regular menu entrees and 1 kids meal. The kids meal came out immediately. My son finished his meal before we even received the other 3 entrees. No mention or apologizes for the delay. Our food came out about 20 minutes after the kids meal and for the amount of extra time we waited it was not even joy. Luke warm at best. Fries for the cheeseburger looked and tasted overly fried. We've enjoyed this restaurant 3 other times with zero complaints. This time makes us feel like we won't be coming back
The food and service was excellent. Even bought some that jalepeno jam for my dad to tale home.
Good food and excellent service. The cornbread was very tasty along with the homemade jalapeño jam. BBQ and drinks.
A little noisy but always great food. We often order pork chili verde and rib sliders—both truly delicious. One of my favorites drinks is no longer on the menu. But they are kind to make it for me anyway. Happy Hour Chardonnay is quite refreshing.
Great experience as always! We had multiple folks touching out table checking in with us. The food was exceptional; Gus's never disappoints:)
I’d be here every week if I could.

Gus? What happened? What part of the South made you do this sir?
Came here years ago and it was so yummy. Went yesterday and the sides were no good. The cornbread was good, but why do the BBQ baked beans look like chili? The Mac and cheese was bland and the greens were a little tough.
Is Gus on vacation?

Excellent food, location, and good service. Had a great burger and baked potato. The potato seems a bit pricey for the dish.

First time coming here with the hubs and pup. We are trying to find more pet friendly places so we can include our fur son.
Sat outside. Super nice weather today. Plenty of shade. It was nice because there wasn't too many people but still a lot of distractions to continue to train our pup (he's 3 1/2 but still call him my pup) in public situations.
Had the cast iron skillet cornbread and it was everything that all the reviews say. Melt in your mouth goodness. I did not try the jalapeno jam but the honey butter was good.
I ordered the fried chicken with the mashed potatoes and collard greens. Everything was great. The mashed potatoes were very creamy. I would have liked some texture in them, but good flavor overall.
Husband got the gumbo. Shrimps were tender. Felt like I there wasn't a lot of protien included. 5 or so whole shrimp, very little sausage and chicken. Mainly veggies. The overall taste was good, just need to add a little more protein.
Will more than likely return since it is dog friendly and maybe try some actual BBQ!

Gus's BBQ isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a full-on flavor experience! From the moment we sat down, we were hit with the smoky aroma of brisket, chicken, and sausage done to perfection—each bite a savory, slow-smoked masterpiece. Even the salad was a showstopper, crisp and vibrant enough to hold its own alongside the barbecue heavyweights. But what truly elevated our visit was Cynthia, our phenomenal server. Friendly, attentive, and absolutely on point—she made us feel right at home. If you haven’t been to Gus’s yet, it’s time to fix that. Everyone should stop by and treat themselves to this unbeatable BBQ spot! 🔥
