The nigiri and rolls were good. Fresh, well cut, and rice was quality and right temperature. Hospitality was great. The non-sushi items were a huge letdown. Tenzaru soba was mid, prawn was very small. The katsudon was the worst we have had. It was missing the dashi/mirin/sweetness element. It was basically plain egg and onion over the pork. So dry, check the photo.
This is my go-to Japanese restaurant in Claremont. I believe it's one of the most authentic spots for Japanese cuisine in the Inland Empire—possibly even the best. Their dishes easily rival those of higher-end restaurants in LA. The sashimi and sushi are always fresh and high quality. While the prices are on the higher side, they’re pretty average for what you get. Just be prepared for a longer wait; dining in usually takes about an hour.
My kids and I finally gave this restaurant a try and it did not disappoint! The food is great and the staff are friendly. We had a great time overall.
GEM of a Japanese restaurant. Food reminds me of home
It's hard to beat this place for quality and price. Either reserve a table or get in early though as they get busy!
I have visited this restaurant, once, when I was in the area of Claremont, in December of 2022. I came here, to have my dinner, after work, on Friday. If my memory serves me well, I have ordered several meals, a beer, and sake. Of course, I have paid around $100.00, including the tip. However, the prices, were worth it. Since the meals were delicious. At the same time, the service by the staff members, who attended my table, was top notch. So, if anyone has discretionary funds, and want to enjoy Japanese cuisine, I would recommend a visit to this restaurant. It is located on Foothill Boulevard, across the street from Sprouts Farmer Market, in Claremont!
Sat at the sushi bar. Had tuna roll, rainbow roll, shrimp tempura hand roll, gyoza, and vegetable tempura. Loved it all but the vegetable tempura wasn't crispy and I like it crispy.
Good food, traditional Japanese style.
Best oysters, hotate hokkaido scallops, kanpachi, abalone, bora ever had and Ive been to Tokyo and a lot of other really highly regarded places, michelin spots included
Found a new favorite sushi spot near work and home. My favorite dishes are crispy salmon skin salad, tofu salad, and grilled Saba. I tried raw fish tuna was very fresh and it melted in your mouth- felt so bam ?

Really excellent sushi quality. I got some of the best toro I have had in Southern California here. Beautiful selection of fish both locally and flown in, very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

A charming and almost minimalist atmosphere which provides a sense of calm and well-being. No blaring music, no garish televisions- just polite conversation and the peaceful sound of chopping against cutting-boards.
The sushi chefs were very welcoming, polite, and skilled.
The server Sam was exceedingly warm, knowledgeable, and courteous.
My only complaint can be issued towards the server with a beard and backwards baseball cap. This individual struck me as contemptuous and discourteous. I am a bartender here in Claremont and am fully aware of the small behaviors by which a server might treat a customer with scorn. The individual in question needs a talking-to regarding the basic expectations of a server.
Other than that, the food was top-notch. There isn't a better sushi restaurant in Claremont.

It is a nice Japanese restaurant. I have been here once, in December of 2022. I came here on a Friday afternoon, to have a dinner. Of course, when I came, the place was packed. Therefore, I had to wait about 10-20 minutes, just to get seated. Still, the wait was worth it. The staff, who worked during that shift, were really helpful and attentive. If I remember correctly, I have ordered several sushi meals and cooked salmon. Those meals were delicious. Without the meals, the ambiance was great. Of course, prices were on the expensive side. Regardless, of prices, I do not regret spending my cash in this establishment. Still, I would recommend to eat in this establishment. For people, who have discretionary funds available. Since it can get pricey. Definitely, when I have some discretionary funds, I will visit this restaurant again!
