The nigiri and rolls were good. Fresh, well cut, and rice was quality and right temperature. Hospitality was great. The non-sushi items were a huge letdown. Tenzaru soba was mid, prawn was very small. The katsudon was the worst we have had. It was missing the dashi/mirin/sweetness element. It was basically plain egg and onion over the pork. So dry, check the photo.
This is my go-to Japanese restaurant in Claremont. I believe it's one of the most authentic spots for Japanese cuisine in the Inland Empire—possibly even the best. Their dishes easily rival those of higher-end restaurants in LA. The sashimi and sushi are always fresh and high quality. While the prices are on the higher side, they’re pretty average for what you get. Just be prepared for a longer wait; dining in usually takes about an hour.
I have visited this restaurant, once, when I was in the area of Claremont, in December of 2022. I came here, to have my dinner, after work, on Friday. If my memory serves me well, I have ordered several meals, a beer, and sake. Of course, I have paid around $100.00, including the tip. However, the prices, were worth it.
