The location is quite tucked away among the businesses. You’ll need to navigate around to the back until you reach the order and pickup window. It’s advisable to place your order online, and they offer various payment options. There’s minimal marketing, just a modest pizza sign by the entrance. The staff is friendly and helpful, eager to provide recommendations. The pizzas are freshly made on-site and baked in their oven. We tried the Figgy Piggy, which was surprisingly not too greasy and tasted delicious, especially with the arugula topping. However, at $38, it may seem slightly overpriced, but quality comes at a cost. Despite the long pickup queue, indicating high demand, the quality is definitely worth it.

Solid pizza, fresh quality ingredients, and nice crust. We ordered the upside down and the fungi. The Upside Down has sesame seeds along the bottom and the crust, with tomato sauce. The tomato sauce is light and too acidic. The fungi has a white sauce, cremini mushrooms, and green onions. They were both delicious. The actual spot to pick up is really hidden. Turn left when u get to Roadside 22 and keep going. They are the last door on the left. The ordering and pick-up were easy. To go only, they are only a kitchen.

You roll down a long, sketchy alleyway. At the end you find a single door, painted red, with a drop-down window. When ou approach the window there are a group of people inside a dark room, 90s music playing, banging out pizza pies with a smile. They drop the window and hand you your pizza, and its the best pizza in the whole East Bay . Highly recommend.

Absolutely off the charts. Just thinking about this place makes my stomach happy. I’m addicted to the Figgy Piggy. The crust is a sourdough and super yummy, even on day 2. Fresh ingredients and the combination of cheese makes for the perfect pie. The service is also superb every single time. I love this place.

Poor sauce to cheese ratio. 90 percent cheese to sauce. Cheese turns into congealed mess within minutes. Great crust. Fix everything else. I was expecting great things. Tremendously disappointing. Lousy pizza.

The prices seems high but the quality is right on. The size is very large. If you like pizza and want to try something new, this is what you want. The hours are limited and so are the pizza's. They only make 40 per night and hours are 4-8 when they are open. Order online. The location is behind the stores in the Clayton Station Shopping Center.

I grew up on east coast, so I’m a fan of a good thin crust. I’ve been mostly underwhelmed with pizza since moving to Bay Area 20 years ago, with a few exceptions. I can’t say how excited I am that Freewheel pizza is in my neighborhood! I only recently heard about it and tried it last night. The crust was perfect and the toppings are high quality. My favorite pizza in the east bay, maybe even in entire Bay Area.

Easily the best pizza in the area. Only downside is the hours/days of operation. Wish they were open more!

This was, I thought, a hidden gem. But I'm over it. You order online and go to this very difficult to find door where there's always people waiting. You'd think making only 40 pizzas a day they'd be better about timing. I have ordered 3 times (tried a couple of other times but they were sold out) and each time I was so excited to have delicious pizza. First time, I had the peppers & roni and it was delicious. Second time, I had the Pineapple Express and it was not good. It had more green onions than pineapple. Luckily I also got the peppers & roni, my son's favorite. The third time I had the grandma with mushroom and although the crust was amazing most of my bites were just red sauce. Meh. I also got my sons favorite peppers & roni, which was still good. Here's the problem. They were at least a half hour late with my pizza EVERY TIME. Last night, they were 40 minutes late. I got there at 6:30, which is when they told me it would be ready. I went up to the door and was told they were running very behind and that my pizzas were in the oven. I thought I heard my name and went up at 7pm. The lady said my pizzas were still in the oven and she didn't call my name. Weird. 7:10 she finally called my name. They were very apologetic. But my pizzas were lukewarm at best. There is no way it had been in the oven the past 40+ minutes and just came out of the oven. After waiting that long, I at least expect a piping hot pizza. Is their pizza good? Yes. There isn't a lot of good options near here so I get it. But I'm usually not going to want to wait 30+ minutes for something I ordered in advance and then get lukewarm pizza. Very unlikely I'll be back, which will make some very happy. I hear everyone, engaged in conversation while waiting, that the secret's getting out and that's the problem. Honestly the problem is their not being able to perfect making consistent timely pizzas 40 times a day between 4 and 7pm. It's ridiculous and I'm pissed and over it.

Pizza is fine, but not worth the exclusive hype. Better than other local pizza options (But it's not hatd to be better than Little Caesars).
