I have been coming to Island Breeze for about 10 years now. This restaurant is a staple as there is very little Caribbean places in the IE. I appreciate the weekday lunch specials, you got a lot of bang for your buck. The food is always delicious - in particular anything that is stewed or saucy. I always stick with rice and peas and steamed veggies or the festivals as those are almost always consistent in quality. I never order a side of fried plantain because they are always a hit or miss. It's either sweet and ripe plantain or very starchy and dry like an eating a Popeye's biscuit without any water (underripe). I'm very disappointed in that aspect as fried plantain is a non negotiable in Caribbean diet (especially as a Caribbean gal myself)!!! The staff has improved. I noticed they hired more people or different people in the last couple of years. The women are friendly and work fast. I really like the newer ladies because they are patient and do such a good job at handling the lunch rush. My favorite lunch special is the curry and brown stew chicken dishes. I like the BBQ ribs but i always order two since the ribs are't the most beefy - still an amazing price though. I enjoy the fried chicken too but my top picks are the chicken stews and the amazing oxtail. I love their oxtail, it's so well seasoned and soft. It's hard not to order it every time. The only thing that can make me give 5 stars is if the plantain issue was addressed. Plantain is too much of staple to not have this addressed.

Eating this food is like having a religious experience, it's soo good. I always get the jerk chicken plate with peas and rice and plantains with the sauce on the chicken (you can also get the sauce on the side). The peas and rice are always cooked perfectly with a subtle but delicious flavor. The chicken (on the bone) is tender, juicy, a generous portion and the jerk sauce is like a party in your mouth - super flavorful and good heat. The plantains have a nice caramelized flavor and cooked to the perfect soft, yet not mushy, texture. The ginger beer is also delicious and pairs great with the food. The staff are all kind, efficient, and know what they are doing, I never wait more than 5 minutes for my food and they always get my order right. I try to come as often as possible while I'm in the area - I think about it at least a couple times a week lol. My daughter has also tried the goat curry and she loves it. Do yourself a favor and come here for a great delicious meal at a reasonable price you won't be sorry!

Best Jamaican food in the area. Ox-tails for the win if it's your first time there.

A very tasty Jamaican spot. Only issue we had was that we ordered from the kiosk instead of at the register which made our order be delayed. I ordered the curried goat which was very good and my mom had the curry chicken. Her plate was better than mine as you can see. I did not choose options that were vibrant! What's not photoed is the sorrel. It was extremely great, my mouth is still watering. We sat at the restaurant for lunch. There is plenty of seating available and a very cool vibe, though I do not remember hearing music playing.

I have had food here before and think it is subpar. I always order curry goat and rice and peas. Im Jamaican and I am so disappointed that the food is not better. It was tuff Iike it neva presser long enuff. I reside in Florida but I'm a travel nurse here in San Bernadino. I once again had the curry goat/rice and steamed veg, again very tough. The curry gravy was not good and the veggies were undercooked. The rice was also tough and had no coconut, thyme or scotch bonnet pepper and was not jasmine rice. Thank you but I will not return.

I was in Riverside for business for the day. I live about 1.5 hours give or take. My wife and I have never tried some real good Jamaican food. So I wanted to bring back some good food. When I got home with the food she was eager to try. The food was 10/10. Extremely flavorful. I ordered brown stew chicken, rice and peas, and plantains. And second plate oxtails, rice and peas and plantains. I will be back. The restaurant was clean and good customer service

Food was trash, oxtail was hard to eat on. Rice taste old and hard. Service was trash. They don't greet men, only women get greeted. They act like they don't want you there but want your money. This is not a great place to eat Caribbean food if you looking for a good experience.

I took the exit to find something to eat and came across Island Breeze, otherwise I would have never discovered it. I ordered the goat curry and it was the best I've ever had. I loved it. It's far from where I live but will definitely go out of my way when I'm around that area again. I can't wait to try their other dishes!

Food was great! Rice and peas were tasty and moist not dry, Oxtails were so flavorful and the plantains were just right. The Jamaican patties were so good. Not a beautiful place but clean and pleasant. Very polite service. Can't wait to go back.

Seeing how everyone raves about oxtails, I have been meaning to try them for some time now. This spot was recommended to me at least 5 different times. So I finally tried it.... and came back a second time! My husband picked up our order (both times) so I didn't experience the customer service directly, but my husband states that the lady at the counter was very helpful, as this was our first time buying Jamaican food and were clueless. On the first visit we ordered Oxtails, Rice & peas, & festival for our first plate. Second plate was Jerk chicken, rice & peas, and plantains. Oxtails, rice, festival: 10/10. Oxtails were literally falling off the bone & the gravy was so good I sopped it up with the rice & festival. I loved the festival, it reminded me of a cross between cornbread and a croissant. It was so good i came back for seconds. Jerk Chicken: 3/10. It was just waaay too spicy for me, I couldn't taste the flavors, only the spice. But my husband ate nearly all of it. I will definitely be back, I really appreciate the flavor and consistency in cooking!
