i'm from LA and have been SEARCHING for a gelato shop that makes it the authentic italian way, with no artificial dyes/flavors and the correct texture. i stumbled across this place while in newport with my family and knew i had to try it immediately when i saw the way the gelato is stored (in the steel tins, as opposed to giant mountains like most places in the US). definitely not disappointed. the flavors were done perfectly and not overly sweet, and you could so tell it was natural. i honestly think it's worth the 2 hour drive from LA to come back here🤣 please open a second location

Gelato Del Mar serves delicious gelato - my favorites are their honeycomb and salted caramel. The owner is a great guy, he let us try flavors and order before the store was even open. Highly recommend!

My friends and I stopped by this cozy gelato shop after our meal for a sweet treat. We were warmly greeted and assisted by Peter who let us sample so many of their flavors.
I decided on getting a cup with pistachio, chocolate hazelnut, and honeycomb. The pistachio (my favorite of the 3 flavors) has a delicate nutty flavor, and pairs well with the chocolate hazelnut. It was reminiscent of ferrero rocher or a creamy nutella. The honeycomb was such a treat! It was buttery and the honey flavor was mellowly floral and sweet. I love the crispy waffle chip that comes with the cup. My husband got the brownie flavor on a waffle cone. They are generous with the brownie chunks. It was so fudgy, rich, and chocolatey.
Everyone who works here was very friendly and patient! You can tell they put a lot of thought into their flavors. I highly reccomend visiting this awesome gelato spot!

I looooove it here - I come once a week, if not more. I work down the road and it makes it super easy, but the owners are also an incredibly sweet couple. Every employee is so kind & the gelato is sooooo good. I spend too much money here but I swear it keeps me sane! Highly recommend if you need a sweet little treat & are in the area.

They also have gluten free cones!!!! And they’re really good!!

Came to this spot because the gelato is in covered containers, meaning it isn’t preserved, is all natural, and uses less sugar. The staff was really kind and explained that the chef is a third generation gelato maker whose family runs several shops in Italy, and the pistachios are imported. The texture and flavor were very authentic and delicious.

We couldn’t resist turning around after spotting the big “Gelato Gelato Gelato” sign — and we’re so glad we did! This is honestly the cleanest gelato shop we’ve ever been to.

The staff was friendly and offered us samples before we decided. I had the pistachio and chocolate & hazelnut gelato, and both were absolutely delicious. Too bad they didn’t have mint gelato that day, but we’ll definitely be back next time to try it!

Immaculate Shop, Incredible Gelato, and the Kindest Staff

Gelato del Mar completely exceeded my expectations. The shop is incredibly clean — everything from the display case to the floor looks pristine. You can tell the owners take pride in both their gelato and their space.

I ordered the Pistachio, which was rich, creamy, and packed with real roasted flavor — absolutely delicious. The staff (who were so kind and welcoming) suggested I pair it with the Chocolate Hazelnut… and wow. A perfect pairing. The nutty warmth of the pistachio with the smooth, slightly decadent chocolate-hazelnut was next-level good.

They offered samples without hesitation and made spot-on recommendations that clearly came from real passion for what they do. Every flavor tasted fresh and true to its ingredients — no artificial aftertaste, just smooth, authentic gelato.

Whether you’re a dessert lover or just looking for a cool spot to relax, this place is a gem. Clean, friendly, and absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back — and bringing friends.
