After four very long days of a work trip, our last stop found us in Coronado. Thrilled to be free of work, coworkers and I decided to treat ourselves to cocktails at the "Del." After wandering the beach and perusing the shops we landed at Babcock and Story Bar. It was a warmish night for October in San Diego, but they still had the overhead heaters on, making it very comfortable to sit at a table that was on the cusp of being outside. If you are at the Del hopefully you know its history, culture, and that it is not inexpensive! My Jalapeño Basil Margarita and Truffle Fries came to around $48. Totally worth it! The cocktail was amazing and I sort of wish I had skipped the fries and just ordered another! The fries were certainly of a shareable size. My coworker ordered the pretzel, which I sampled and found to be delicious as well. This was definitely a treat and I would go back in a heartbeat. As an added bonus there was live music on the patio. I can't remember his name, but he was very good and really added to the classy beach ambiance.

Coronado and its beaches are lovely but the waiting staff at Babcocks are horrendous! They must be trained in bad manners! Either that or they have a nose for the wealthy and choose to ignore everyone else. We spoke to three different members of staff - all three were rude and dismissive - not one wanted to take our order. After about half an hour we gave up and headed to the bar on the beach. Tacos and cocktails barefoot in the sand was without doubt the better option. Babcocks is best left to those who want to see and be seen.

We stopped here for lunch on Friday. You can pick any table you want on the deck and it was quite easy to get a table with an ocean view. Service was fast and great, our waiter was very helpful and told us about discount for the hotel garage parking, food was delicious and fries were the best I've ever had at restaurants. And our perfect meal and drinks were served with top-notch ocean view, which always makes me happy and meal tastier.

I spent half of an afternoon at this bar to wait for peers. The drink menu was extensive and the price was reasonable. It was a quite casual environment and I was able to grab a seat with an ocean view by myself. I had a good time here and would recommend to check this place out when you have some spare time to kill.

We are currently staying at hotel del and can't afford to buy anything at the hotel or the bar or the shops or food or anything to be honest. We've parked our car on a street at the hotel as the parking charges are beyond a joke to. So we asked for 2 waters at the Babcock bar and they didn't bring them over. I guess it's a case of looking after the rich but if you can't afford a drink you get totally ignored. Absolutely shocking customer service.

Stopped in on a whim and had a seat as the sunset at a fireside couch. Our waiter was absolutely fabulous. Loved the experience and the drinks were soooo good.

The sun deck is a gorgeous location! The food was delicious, although the menu choices were limited and expensive. We also found the music a bit too loud. But you absolutely can't beat the view or the vibe.

Beautiful old bar with good view of the beach and sunsets. As for the food, we had two average burgers, one beer and a glass of wine. Our bill with tip was $105. I have paid less than that in pricey Scandinavia.

Here first week in March and the wait staff were great - the view was amazing - and the food and drinks were very good. Now, was it worth the price… no… it isn’t a good value at all… but we were staying at The Del so it was convenient.

I went to Coronado to see sunset and decided to try Sun Deck for cocktails and just enjoying the sunset view, Amanda was a great server, she is very attentive and showed genuine care even though the kitchen was about to close. I ordered Asian fries which was delicious, it comes with salad and chicken pieces with tasty sauce, comes in a big portion so it’s good for sharing. Cocktails were great! Verdict: I will come back ?

This is the best place to spend a sunny afternoon. Get a table and order a bottle of wine and small plate and stay until the sunsets. It will be create a memory of a lifetime.
