We have eaten gelato all over the states and this place has the best gelato we’ve ever tasted! The man who was working the counter was extremely pleasant to deal with and was so patient with our children. They loved the window where you can watch them make the fresh gelato. The guy mentioned that they make each gelato fresh every single day. And you can tell! We went twice—I had the blackberry chocolate once and the second time, banana & chocolate chip. Both were absolutely delicious!! Will for sure return!!

I just came home from Gelato Paradiso. I’m writing this review because I am genuinely upset by how this situation was handled both in terms of communication and customer service and following policy.
I placed an online order for an ice cream cake on January 30th at 12:15am for a January 31st, 1:30pm pickup, 37 hours and 15 minutes in advance, which is within the 36-hour notice requirement stated on the website. The system accepted the order without any warning or indication there would be an issue.
Despite this, when I arrived to pick up the cake (after driving 30 minutes to Coronado), I was told the cake had not been made due to the advance notice requirement and that their system is new and didn’t flag the order.
What made this especially frustrating wasn’t just the situation itself, it was how it was communicated. The staff member who came out to speak with me was abrupt and dismissive of the fact that I had no cake for my event. There was little to no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or responsibility on the business’s side. Being told I could simply “go to Cold Stone and get a cake” felt unnecessary, unprofessional and added to the frustration, especially given the circumstances. I have a Cold Stone 5 mins from my house so I wouldn’t have taken 30mins out of my day to drive to Coronado esp on a Saturday.
I followed the policy and did everything required on my end. A simple review of orders by their staff before opening or a courtesy call could have prevented this entirely. Instead, I had to find out in person, wasting over an hour of my day on what was supposed to be a simple birthday pickup.
While a small discount was offered on gelato cups (which I appreciated), it didn’t meaningfully address the situation. It is my son and my husband’s birthday, so I didn’t want to walk away without getting them something, but the experience was still disappointing and avoidable.
What makes this unfortunate is that the gelato itself is excellent. My husband and I recently visited during our 20th wedding anniversary and loved it we lived in Italy for a few years and found it comparable, which is why this experience stood out in such a negative way.
I’m sharing this because this was a failure in customer service, communication and policy, and I hope it’s taken seriously so another family doesn’t experience this on a special occasion.
Best pistachio gelato I have ever had! Flavors were fresh, creamy, and delicious. Also tried their biscotti “cookies and cream” flavor in a cone that was also wonderful. Staff was friendly and storefront was adorable; highly recommend if you’re ever strolling in Coronado!

I had the coffee, chocolate covered strawberries & mango (this last one felt like a real frozen mango y’all - best summer vibe ever) - DO NOT MISS if you’re in SoCal! Definitely worth making it down to Coronado island for

I just found my new favorite ice cream shop!!! WOW! I was able to taste two flavors before choosing one; I tried lemon and cookies and cream. I LOVED THEM BOTH! They taste so fresh made with good ingredients. I ended up going with cookies and cream. Later I found out that you can choose up to 4 different flavors! Next time I for sure will get more. I also tried the guava and pineapple flavor and WOW!
Oh yeah! Next best thing to Italy!
