Amazing location, beautiful restaurant, good food, grossly understaffed. Wait staff was nice, but disappeared for 15 minutes at a time. It got to the point that we could not enjoy our dinner. Asked for water twice - never came. Asked for utensils 2 different times - never came. I literally sat there unable to eat, with my food getting cold and the wait staff was nowhere to be found. I blame this on the restaurant, not the servers. This reminds me of a place that knows it is in a great location, has automatic customer base (especially during summer), and they don't need to show up every day.

We always enjoy eating at Il Fornaio, although this was our first time at this location. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the panoramic view of the San Diego skyline was inspiring. I don't think we could have found a better place to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

The evening started poorly. The hostess checked us in then spent 10 minutes talking to some random guy about the parking situation. Finally after we commented, she seated us. We ordered drinks then the waiter never showed up again for 30 minutes. We asked for the check & left. He never even inquired why! The restaurant was filled with screaming kids & families. Don't go there unless that's what you're expecting! For us, a terrible experience!

My wife and I love this restaurant. We had our rehearsal dinner here 12 years ago and went back for our anniversary every time we're in San Diego. We try to eat here has a good food and amazing views.

Too many families with out of control children- and this is a high class, expensive restaurant. Our server was very kind, but seemed distracted by his many tables. Hoping for better results next time.

Beautiful atmosphere and great views! The food overall was really good — everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. I had the pizza, which had good flavor, but the crust was very flimsy. So if you're someone who likes a crisp, firm crust, this may not be the best fit. That said, I do feel the pricing is on the high side — both the cocktails and food seemed a bit overpriced for what you get. Our service was okay, but the server came across a little awkward, which slightly took away from the overall experience.

My chicken parm was overcooked. Edges so hard, I could not cut. My wife loved her Mar Chare dish. Service was mediocre . We are regulars, and I would not order the chicken parm dish again.

Had a pleasant dining experience at Il Fornaio Coronado. The hostess honored our request for an outdoor table - our out of town guests were impressed by the nice view. The food was great too.
Overall, the experience was okay. The view of the bay was absolutely beautiful and definitely a highlight. However, the food didn't quite meet expectations. The pizza was quite salty, the octopus could have been grilled better, and the pasta was just average. There's potential, but a few improvements in the kitchen would really elevate the overall experience.

We were seated outside on the patio & it was gorgeous. We were a party of 4 and all of us loved our entrees . Noah was our server & he was awesome- very attentive & a great personality. Definitely be back

Always a lovely experience when we come to  ill Fornaio This time was extra fun because our friends were available to come join us, management always stops by to greet us and say hello, and the guys on the line and at the bar always love it when we walk by and let them know how much we appreciate what they did to make dinner for us! They know we mean it! We love Il Fornaio and Luca is probably the best manager of a restaurant ever!! We know that because of how the staff treats us and everybody else. Everyone who comes into Coronado I'll Fornaio has a fantastic dining experience.

I wish we could give a better review. Our original server took our drink and food order. She disappeared without a word and our food eventually delivered. My husband had to find a server who could add some parm to our dish. We thought perhaps there was a shift change but would have expected a polite handoff to who would take over. It was our 40th anniversary, a “happy anniversary” card was placed on our table, but absolutely no mention past the host station.
