Dinner was delicious! It was my birthday celebration and we had traveled from Tucson. The service was abysmal. The waitress didn't know anything about the wine. It took her 3 trips to consult with the bar, and we finally received a taste which led to a nice bottle. We ordered a split salad, which was served on one plate. The waitress took our dinner order and it arrived ahead of finishing our salad. The restaurant wasn't busy, as we had an early reservation. There was no excuse for the poor timing. We were treated to a birthday dessert, but no other desert, drink or coffee options were offered. The night didn't feel celebratory. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant based upon our experience.

I live walking distance to Il Fornaio in Coronado and always feel I am treated like royalty. The staff, from the front desk, waiters and managers are superb.

It was an enjoyable evening, accompanied by our grandchildren, 12 & 10 (who are the ones that chose this restaurant). Service was prompt and our server Hermilo did a wonderful job, even though he was slammed. There was an event that evening, yet that did not slow him down.

As soon as we walked in, they congratulated us for our anniversary, they gave us a card and sent a complimentary dessert. The service was great, the waiters are very kind and make recommendations. The food was delicious, our favorite was Tagliatelle Bolognese, it was really delicious. Highly recommend this place for an exceptional view, service and food.

My husband and I have been frequent visitors to the Il Fornaio on Coronado island, CA.. since it opened (actually 20+ years ago). We don't live in the area, just vacation there, so our visits aren't super frequent. This last dinner, three nights ago, was super disappointing. Again. We dined there a year ago- bad experience. Something terrible has happened to this restaurant- the service was very slow (our server was so nice but was overloaded with too many table to give decent service). We ordered 2 soda waters and a glass of wine. They charged us $5.00 for each soda water, which I thought was really lame. The food was sub par and bland. The bread (which used to be backed by their now long-gone bakery) was ordinary and a teeny bit stale. This restaurant has been one of our top top favorites for all these years but now that we've had two bad experiences in a row, we won't be going back till they get their act together. And oh, did I mention that it's not cheap to dine there? Very pricey. Took the wind out of our sails to pay that much money and have a sub par experience. We were a bit crushed about the whole thing. It used to be a top notch place to dine. Not anymore. Sad.
