I don't think I've ever written a restaurant review, but in almost a year of living in San Diego and eating out around twice a week, if not more, Jolie is the best meal I've ever had in the city so far.
I went here with one of my best friends as our big girl fancy Christmas dinner together. We started with the bread and butter and the crab toast, and they're exactly as delicious as they sound. I was slamming my fist kn the table with every bite. I probably could've gorged myself on those two apps several more times and been blissfully satisfied with my meal. For my entree I got the Loup de Mer and my friend got the Wagyu Sirloin. Can't speak for the sirloin beyond that that bite I had was great, but the seabass...the insane crunch of the crust with the pesto sauce...mmm, mmmmm, MMM, MMM, MMMMMMMMMMMM. They offer a singular dessert, which is vanilla ice cream topped with olive oil, balsamic, pistachio, and Maldon salt. Terrific. Every course I had showed mastery of texture and taste. A perfect meal top to bottom.
The space is small, the size of a studio apartment, which makes it feel intimate. Our hostess and server were attentive. The decor is barebones and greige—and they can get away with it because the food absolutely carries. I can't wait to come here again and again and again.

Small area with great eats. Amazing food at a great value. $1.50 oysters at their happy hour along with great selection of wines. Oysters were among the best I’ve had, scallops were wonderful as well. Main menu is also great, their wagyu frites is an American Wagyu from Kansas and prepared at a perfect medium rare. Crab toast was fantastic. Service was great, albeit a quiet time as I was there at 4pm.

Came for their happy hour. There's better options. The oysters were good. Did not like the flavors on the scallop- overbearings. Crudo was bad.
Lovely prosecco and oysters. Keep it up!

I was expecting some incredible food and what we got was definitely subpar. Great waitress who was doing her best to serve every table by herself, but they needed more staff. The bread was the best part of the meal. Steak frites were flavorless and the French fries were horrible, disappointing for a French restaurant lol. We got the cauliflower app and the menu said it came with couscous, no couscous, they brought out sesame seeds. The chefs didn’t know what couscous was… my salmon entree wasn’t cooked all the way through. The chefs in the back seem like they don’t want you there and don’t want to be working, taking their sweet time too. We enjoyed the wine though! Definitely not worth the cost, go elsewhere.

Coronado Island in San Diego is a wondrous community where you can feel both a part and detached from the city. Taking one of the highest highways I've ever been to reach this island, the views from all corners of Coronado can be spectacular, especially for romantic moments when the sun rises and sets. However, usually in small communities on the water the price for entertainment and food can be tremendous. Luckily, there is a restaurant who knows you're looking for delicious seafood without destroying your mood and wallet. Let me tell you why Jolie is worth checking out at a very certain time.
Jolie is located just a few minutes walk away from the ferry stop in Coronado. It sits neatly next to a facade of what looks to be a historical building. At first when you walk in you think the decor would be more ornate, but inside is a very minimalist presentation. Concrete floors with gray walls, a simple counter near the kitchen, and large steel shelves against one wall to hold wines and supplies makes this space feel very much like it's more pop up than permanent restaurant. It's also such a shame Jolie is so close to the water but the only natural light coming in is from the front entrance. A space so open as Jolie's dining room floor would benefit from more of the warm natural light coming through.
However, ambience might be one thing but the best part of Jolie is the happiest of all happy hours: Oyster Hour. On Wednesdays to Sundays from 4 PM to 6 PM Jolie has a menu allowing you to enjoy a great selection of seafood at discounted prices. We're talking a chef's selection of different oysters for $1.50 each or Peruvian scallops at $3.50 each. Their crab toast, packed to the brim with crab meat, can be enjoyed for $17. Even hot items like Filet o Fish sliders or their house burger is available for discount during Oyster Hour. And if you're wondering if they skimp on the portions because the price is low then look no further than my photos. You can see they are not petite bites and each are presented beautifully. They do have other items on their full menu such as steak frites or Bluefin tuna and coming during Oyster Hour might give you the resolve to try these items since you saved so much.
After eating what could only be described as a fisherman's catch worth of seafood it was satisfying to see my wallet only slimmed down instead of exhausted to zero. The service was kind and felt similar to what you might experience during lunch time at a bistro near the water in New York. I know, very specific, but what I'm trying to say is service was perfectly fitting for this joint. If you do decide to come to Coronado and looking for a delicious meal to capture the essence of this community I recommend coming to Jolie during Oyster Hour and eat to your heart's content. Then go for a walk by the waters to settle your fullness down. Cheers!

Soso service. Sat and ordered and main dish was 1 hour into being sat. Waitress wasn't attentive. Don't order the prawns, or should I say a prawn cut in half for $42. Overall food tasted good, service and ambiance lacked.

Very nice place and I’m glad I came with one issue.
Unlike others, service was speedy and attentive. Jake was fabulous and he knew everybody engaging in personal conversation about patrons last visit, weddings and other things. Even with that he was attentive to this first timer explaining dishes and making sure I was taken care of.
The food was the bomb. I had oysters, scallops, crab toast and grilled prawns. All delicious. The oysters were meaty and juicy. The scallops were a bit small but had a fresh flavor and were meaty. The crab toast was amazing. I make it myself at home but this was the best I had. Idk what bread they use for the toast but it’s the perfect vessel and the decadent crab. It was very filling. Lastly the prawns were huge and delicious. I love love loved the couscous and yogurt that accompanied the char of the grilled shrimp. Perfect contrast of flavors.
My only issue was the prawns was $34 in the menu but I was charged $42. I didn’t make a stink of it but someone else just might.
For that reason I can’t give a five stars but a four stars. But I would go again. I likes the area close to the water and want to try other things on the menu

Food took more than 30 mins to arrive, our waiter was way too busy to check on us even once while we’re waiting for food. Ppl arrived later got food before us. Oyster is served at the very end of the meal. That’s what to say about the service we got today.
Food isn’t as disappointing as the service. We liked some dishes. Scallops and shrimp melon salad are pretty good, burger is ok, fish slider is more interesting. I like the croquettes. Oysters, which are served when we’ve almost finished, isn’t of the best quality though, 2 out of the 6 were almost empty. We didn’t say a thing since at this point we just want to leave.
We had high hope and thought we’d be back seeing the good reviews but unfortunately this isn’t our experience.

This seems like a pop-up, but is the coolest place in SoCal. Get your Resy in ASAP before it's a month out!

It is sad that they close early on Sunday if not enough guests ...
Was excited to eat there on my 1 chance, but not able to. 8 pm I arrived.
