BEST CAKE EVER ! My wife and I have been coming to Tartine for years usually for lunch and sometimes for breakfast. IT IS ALWAYS GREAT ! We love their fresh made sandwiches, well made coffees, friendly service and especially their FABULOUS CAKES. I phoned through an order for a 6 inch Chocolate Raspberry Silk Torte earlier in the week ( they like to have at least 72 hours notice for a cake order ) with Jenny the lovely co-owner. We made the long drive ( 28 miles ) to Coronado on Friday to have lunch here and pick up our sensational cake. Keep in mind that Coronado is a top San Diego tourist destination and the weather was great on the day so we figured it would be tough getting a parking spot anywhere near the restaurant. WOW we got lucky and parked 20 feet from the front patio. Even though it was only 11.45am the place was almost packed out and the remaining tables had reserved cards on them. We walked inside and asked about our cake order which was ready for us and a friendly server was able to find us a table inside. A charming server named Isaac came by to look after us. We decided to kick things off with 2 x Cortados while we decided on our lunch order. Glasses of iced water were brought to our table within seconds. Isaac did a great job on our double shot Cortados as they tasted rich & invigorating. We decided on one of our favorite sandwiches....a Ham & Brie Tartine ( sliced French ham & Brie cheese with grain mustard served on a warm baguette ) to share on 2 plates. Our lunch order ( on 2 plates ) arrived in a very short time considering how busy the place was. DELICIOUS AS ALWAYS....tender French ham, creamy Brie on pillowy baguette. Even though we always have dessert ( cake of course ) with our lunch here we did not because we wanted to enjoy some of our Chocolate Raspberry Silk Torte with dinner in the evening. Jenny the ever friendly co-owner dropped by for a lovely chat and told us that Barbara ( one of the 3 female co-owners ) trained as a pastry chef in France...hence the amazing cakes and baked goods. We thanked Isaac for his wonderful service, paid the bill and collected our cake. Later in the day we each enjoyed a slice of the incredibly delectable cake. TRUST ME YOU WANT IT !

This is such a fun place to go. I don’t know how anyone couldn’t love it. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast served all day.

Unbelievable selection of desserts on display, so check them out before you order so you know how much room you’ll need. Or do what we do and get the dessert to go because the meals have generous portions.

I have not been for dinner. Usually get quiche or panini or sandwich for a brunch or lunch. Desserts are fabulous. Great coffee. Eat inside or out. Street parking usually not a problem.

The two sandwiches were too salty. The ham was just salty and served as folded with two very small pieces of brie on a warm roll with a bit of mustard. That was so-so. Ask for extra brie and it would be a,better sandwich. The balance of salty meat to bread and cheese ratio is off. The prosciutto sandwich was extra extra salty due to the unnecessary amount of prosciutto on the sandwich with parmesan cheese, also very salty. It was disgusting and sad. There was on tiny pieces of something green on that sandwich, which added no flavor. Not able to enjoy this sandwich without removing the oddly baked prosciutto. The portions were off, and salt on salt was insane. Maybe some onion could help with two slices of prosciutto and lettuce and light amout of salty parmesan cheese. It seems that the person making the sandwiches does not have to eat them. Yuk. Expresso, skip it. The cup was cute. This place tries for European, but falls very short. It does not have the flavor. The venue is great, the staff are nice, but the sandwiches are dreadful. The cheeses are not the star of the show, ingredients are not used well. They have tea maybe get a tea.

It was one of the worst services i have experienced in San Diego. We first didn’t even know that we had to be guided to a seat so we went to the takeout ordering counter only for the guy to be annoyed. And then once were seated we were not offered any of the complimentary bread and had to embarrassingly ask for it in the middle of our meal and were served cold, hard bread. On top of that we were not even aware that there was a December specials menu and were not even offered. Safe to say we are NOT coming back

I don’t give 5 stars often but Tartine has earned it. My wife and I have eaten here multiple times and have never left disappointed. Some of our favorites are the charcuterie plater, the pork chop and the schnitzel when they have it. Also the desserts are homemade and delicious. Made with real butter, cream, etc. The service is very good and it’s also very reasonably priced for Coronado. I recommend making a reservation.

Always a favorite!

I am overwhelmed by their selection!

If you’re in Coronado, try Tartine, the food and service are so much better than most other places on the island!

It had been awhile since I’d been to Tartine, so when I was in the area for lunch I was excited to revisit this Coronado classic. Unfortunately, I ended up with food poisoning so I don’t think I’ll be going back.

This late-night coffee shop is a great place to grab a quick cup of coffee. The kids had hot chocolate with whipped cream, while we opted for the classic regular coffee. It was perfectly brewed and served in a cozy atmosphere. I’m definitely planning to stop by again next time to try their lemon tarts.

I was shifted from my ne table to another because some sitting areas were “reserved”. After settling into my table I was approached by someone to let me know that my table would be taken at 5 pm . The place was at 10 percent of its capacity. Will not come back to this place.
