Excellent tea leaf salad as raved. Very good bao and wings. Chicken katsu cooked well but bland and accompanied by a thick and somewhat sour sauce that didn’t work for me. Glad I had the bao house hot sauce. Coconut cake was a hit. Subtle and steady flavor that’s hard to find. Overall, highly recommend. Like the staff, space and decor. Will return to try noodles and curry.

Easily one of the best restaurants in Marin and the Bay Area. Best Burmese cuisine in the bay easily. Get here and try it yourself!!

Wow - the execution of the food is exceptional! Had the tea leaf salad, the special' fish - perfectly cooked beyond belief, - served with a delicious broth with some greens, and the Chile garlic green beans - the crunch is impressive, as is the medium hot spice. Attentive wait staff that is genuinely focused on making your experience special. The ambience combines excellent lighting with natural materials with the buzz of the diners. Whereas the crowd noise is a bit loud - a bit - it adds to the buzz of a GREAT night out!

Clearly labeled items that are already vegan or can be made vegan. Some of my favorites are the mushroom garlic noodles, tea leaf salad, tofu stir fry and vegetable samosas! They have been able to make a vegan dessert for me as well. Just make sure you mention that you want the items to be vegan! Updated from previous review on 2025-01-13

3.5 stars. We chose this restaurant because of all the reviews. We ordered the shrimp bao and ribeye bao, shrimp coconut curry with side of coconut rice, and kalbi over garlic noodles. I think we should have just ordered the bao. The balance between the coleslaw and protein with the thick buns was delicious. Coconut shrimp was solid. The kalbi … where do I start? It was covered in sauce, so salty that I was scraping it off and wiping it off with my napkin. It was inedible. I felt like I was swallowing salt. I saw jars of Korean bbq sauce (the kind you buy at Korean grocery stores) in the kitchen when I was waiting for the bathroom — is that what they used? The garlic noodle had good flavor, but was also too salty. In hindsight, I should have asked it to be done again, but they were so busy and the place was so loud that we just want to finish and leave. Just went home and drank a lot of water. If I were to return, I would just order the buns.

Food was ok. It’s just it’s not Burmese food. The food has Burmese elements but its super Americanized.

As a native Burmese, I was thrilled to find out that there’s a Burmese restaurant on the Michelin guide and it was in the bay. I was quite disappointed because the food was too bland. They toned down the spice level too much to match the American taste.

Tofu Salad - my wife and I were looking forward to this dish and were most disappointed by it. This is not Burmese tofu!! It’s a slab of the silken Korean tofu from the grocery store with American pickles. Burmese tofu is made from chick pea flour. The preparation has some Burmese elements but it’s more fusion than authentic.

Wings - wings were the best. They are not Burmese but they tasted really good.

Garlic noodle - garlic noodle is too sweet and does not have enough garlic. The noodle is too greasy. The noodle is also not the kind of noodle used traditionally for garlic noodle.

Coconut noodle soup (Ono Kauk Swe) - this dish tasted ok but I was disappointed because I had an expectation of how coconut noodle soup should taste. It’s light on the curry and spice. When we asked for chili flakes, they gave us the Japanese Shichi-mi tōgarashi powder instead of the traditional fried chili flakes and oil.

The vibe was amazing. The food is probably a good intro to Burmese cuisine but lacks the traditional flavors for a native.

Nice folks and good service. Can get filled up. Some dishes take longer than others and delivery of food timing can vary. Delicious food items make it worthwhile.
