Din Tai Fung

I'm always super weary of such a hype, but this place really does live up to it. We've had many great soup dumpling establishments so the bar was high and i twas met.

The waitlist is so so so intimidating and the reason it took us a while to come here. On weekdays, you can join it online, which is the way to go (I refuse to go in person on a weekend just to be told the wait is 2 hours). The waitlist moved maybe an hour quicker than we were told (but it still was a wait of two hours).

The menu is pretty extensive so it's worth getting something from each category.

Did I think the pork xiao long bao were the best I've ever had? Definitely not and we actually felt like these were a bit average. Spicy wantons were delicious and maybe my favorite flavor of the night, lovely chili oil presence and beautifully done. Noodles w/ diced beef we really only got to try to fill ourselves up, but this was also actually pretty good. Sleeper hit and maybe our actual favorite dish, however, was the green beans. These were so perfectly seasoned and the crunch level was divine.

Service is efficient but you can tell they serve hundreds of people daily.

Will I come back? Probably not, it's just so expensive for what it is and the wait is prohibitive.

Don't go to this place. Don't waste your time and money. Check in process was horrible to began with. Made a online reservation 11:13 am and received the notice to check in at 12:17 pm. We had 15 minutes to check in. At 12:30 got to the restaurant and had to wait in line for another 15 minutes while in line, they removed the reservation. Spoke to the manager and only thing she can do is put me back on the list at 12:45 pm and 164 people waiting.

First, the scam that they are running is crazy. They have only one line to ask questions, look at the menu,put them self on the waiting list and check in. This line is 10 to 15 minutes. If they have a separate line to check in, we won't spend the time in line for check in. Once you are checked in you are handed a menu to look at and have to wait once again to be sited. They told me to come back at 12:59 pm to 1:14 pm slightly delay (picture attached)...Got in the lind for the third time and finally sat at 12:20pm.

Don't fall into this hype and go somewhere else where you money and time is appreciated.

The food and drinks here are super crazy delicious! The staff is super friendly and works like a clock. This place is definitely worth a visit!

I had a to-go order and kept asking if my order was ready to be pickup. I saw many people ordered after me and got theirs before me. I totally waited for 1 hr and 25mins and it turned out my order was already there but no one cares about it. The manager said I will get partial refund because of the cold food but I never get the refund he promised.

I ate Din Tai Fung many times in Taiwan, London and New York and expected the same delicious food here but unfortunately I got the worst food this time because it was cold.

We dine here often and have always loved it. The food is excellent, the service is consistently wonderful, and the atmosphere is amazing. Unfortunately, our recent visit on the 16th of august was very disappointing and completely dampened the experience before we even sat down.

When we arrived, Audrey, the hostess, called us for our walk-in reservation. I had booked a table for four, but one member of our party was briefly delayed as they were in the restroom. Rather than simply allowing us to be seated and wait for our guest, Audrey repeatedly pressed us to estimate exactly how long it would take for him to arrive. Even after we explained that it would only be a few minutes, she continued to ask. The situation became uncomfortable and unnecessary, and it felt both unprofessional and frustrating.

This was a stark contrast to the level of service we’re used to at this restaurant, and it left us with a negative impression at the very start of our meal. I truly hope this was an isolated incident, as we have always enjoyed dining here in the past.

Extremely long wait , almost 2 hours. Very limited or no times for reservations. You have to only make reservations on line. The food was about average with some vegetarian options. The making of some of the dishes like dumplings by hand was fun to watch. Several of the vegetarian dishes had the same stuffing inside as if they could not find many vegetables. The soup that was supposed to come first came last and it was barely warm. You can only go here if you lots of time to wait and go thru double check in process.

Stable taste and service regardless of location & country! It’s usually a long wait but I like this location specifically because we can join the waitlist via online and enjoy the shopping while waiting. And always the best finishing the meal with our favorite dessert Chocolate Xiao Long Bao and the creme!

Horrible Horrible Experience,,,, we decided to have dinner at this place in south coast with my family , booked the time and showed up to be surprised that our time has kicked up from 30 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes,,, after waiting hour and half walked up to the front to get an update and the young girl said 30 mins,,, 30 minutes after walked up again to hear from that there is 45 minutes more wait time !!!!!!!!
Terrible,,, my wife and two kids including myself were super frustrated,, if you have a successful business and you excited that you have “ high demand “ on the restaurant at least you have to be humble and feel with people time,,, after waiting 3 full hours we walked away in disgust, disappointment , and distress,,,, instead of getting a quality time dinner at a “ reputable place “ we ended up walking away super upset,,, went down stairs to Calo the Mexican restaurant and explained to the lady at the front we have been waiting at other restaurant for so many hours and all hungry and frustrated , she got us in within 10 minutes.
Shame on you to put me and my family through this terrible experience while our intention is to have a good quality time and supposed “ good food “ at your restaurant but quite frankly they like the attention that people get to wait long hours to get in,,, even though we waited more what was quoted to us and were given couple misleading times by the front young individuals to be seated.

Service was awesome, but I got charged $10 that night extra for “LATE/CANCEL” my reservation but I actually got there 10 minutes before my reservation time- ridiculous and was there right when it opened at 9:30am ……
