The meat is absolutely delicious! Order some tacos de birria & sopes de carnitas. They stuff it with meat. Homemade tortillas?? Their salsas are good, not that spicy though. It is a pretty small location, it is also a store! There are so many good Mexican products. The employees are very nice & patient.

So I ordered carnitas tacos and something else was inside.. like salmon looking( not what I ordered) thin sliced slime and or something? Is was hot (not spicy) so I was eating it and almost through(half-way) that's when I noticed it... I had already left and gone back to work... I am not sure if I will order from here again.. tbh.. if I do I am going to be right there when they make it.. let's just say it will be a while before I recover from this. When a customer asks for carnitas and says onions and cilantro- that is all that should be inside the tacos- nothing else, no surprises ...I Still prefer el Toro bravo.. the place could sure use some cleaning and updating... I feel sick

I eat bírria tacos daily. I travel all over for work, and so when I paid over $4 per taco, I expected good. First bite was into a bone. It's mostly gristle. Even smells funky like parts not meat. The ambiance in the place is asleep. The women can't make eye contact. It's unclear how to order. Not ok. Sadly.

You can spend hundreds of dollars of here monthly, but they’ll make a fuss and say u gotta pay extra for a lil salsa container if u want more than 2 for a combo plate.Dispuestos a perder clientes no mas pa un poco extra salsa. Smh

Be prepared with Google translate or at least know some basic Spanish. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, and the fresh food is great.

Best burrito in Orange county hands down. The food is amazing. Great market as well. It's my bad but If I spoke better Spanish I'd do better ordering, they got bilingual people there so you can navigate pretty easy.

Good taquitos. Just a little neighborhood meat market. Alot of choices! If I'm in the area again I would go back. The chile verde looked good next time I will try it;)

El Campeon Carniceria is a hidden gem located on a side street off Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa. If you're a taco enthusiast like me, this place will feel like an oasis. Just be aware that the parking lot is tiny and can fill up quickly, but I've never waited longer then a couple of minutes for a spot. When you first step inside, you might feel a little lost, but fear not! Head straight to the counter on the left-hand side to place your order. Pick up any remaining items you may need in the store and pay at the check out counter. They will make your order paid so you can pick up your food. The staff is friendly and helpful, so don't hesitate to ask for recommendations. Now, let's talk about the food. I cannot stress enough how amazing the tacos are here. Whether you go for the lingua, pastor, carne asada, or pollo, you're in for a treat. Each taco is bursting with flavor and made with high-quality ingredients. The meat is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Trust me, you won't be able to stop at just one.El Campeon Carniceria is more than just a taco joint. It also functions as a thriving area market, offering various necessities, as well as a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. While I haven't explored their meat counter, I can only assume it's just as impressive as their tacos. The overall atmosphere of El Campeon Carniceria is welcoming and lively. It's a great spot to grab a quick bite or even sit down with friends and enjoy your meal. There are some small tables outside in the front. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality and portion sizes. If you're on the hunt for authentic, mouthwatering tacos in Costa Mesa, El Campeon Carniceria is the place to be. The combination of friendly service, delicious food, and the market-like environment make it a must-visit. Don't miss out on this taco haven--I guarantee you'll keep coming back for more!

It serves locals and like minded people delicious Mexican food. This location also has a wonderful selection of fresh meats and vegetables to purchase. A small but mighty Hispanic canned and dry goods area can also be found here.

Good food and good prices, lovely little market. The workers are nice but most of them only know Spanish so its a bit difficult sometimes trying to talk to them with my broken Spanish but they are understanding.
