Main guy at the cash register (forgot his name) is super attentive and nice! He recommended food items that were popular and did not miss! It was so GOOD. Best Hawaiian bbq I've had. He forgot my egg rolls in my to go order and I noticed 10 minutes after. I went back and he already refunded me because he thought I wasn't gonna go back. That showed how genuine and honest he is. He still ended up giving me the missing egg rolls! I will 100% come back
I grew up in San Diego having L&L be my family’s go-to Hawaiian spot. Now that I live a few blocks away from this location in Costa Mesa, it’s such a treat! Quick and friendly customer service; and delicious food. I always call ahead and it’s ready when I arrive. Between 5-10 minutes.I like getting the 2 piece Katsu or Spam Musubi, it’s pretty filling for a quick lunch - and a great value.The mini katsu is huge, it’s a great value with a hefty portion. They even have a deal on Tuesday $11-$12 for mini katsu and a drink. That will definitely be enough for lunch AND dinner. Just cook extra rice at home and there’s plenty for 2 meals or to share.I have dined in here a few times too and it’s always clean! This is a great spot

I made a simple delivery order of vegetable curry with a side of chicken Katsu, like shown in the photos of DD. There were no vegetables at all in the curry-- not one piece-- only rice and Chicken Katsu (like 5 lbs of it!). Seriously, I got so much chicken I don't know what to do with it all! It's enough to feed a family of five in my honest opinion! I called the restaurant and asked about the vegetables, but the lady who answered got so irritated with me (I was only on the phone with her for less than 1 minute), that she hung up on me! The lack of customer service or willingness to substitute half of the chicken, for just some vegetables is reason for negative two stars. However, the chicken Katsu, was so sinewy, and had fatty parts, which usually shouldn't happen from a restaurant. I knew the L & L in Honolulu was subpar and I was hoping it would be a little bit better now after 10 years, but I was sadly mistaken. Never again!

Thier chicken is raw something pink and rubbery. They need to be careful it could cause food poisoning.
I love food and was wanting something to snack on.... So, noted on the menu spam musubi. The choice was to order two or three. I ordered the two count option. It was just tasty and satisfied my snacking mode. They have other delicious meal choices but today I was in snacking mode. Sorry don't have a picture but it was good. Yummy.

I am just comparing this location with the one in Irvine. I said this is 10x better. Friendlier staff. Cleaner place. And way more generous portions. The only problem I have with our order is the chicken katsu was really hard. Double fried can save a lot of time during rush and to assure crispiness. But when the store only has 2 tables seated I would expect a fresh piece of fried chicken.

Food was good. Service was also good and quick. Serving size was decent but prices are kinda high. One regular can easily feed 2 people. So I recommend the mini or the bowls.
