This hidden gem is located in the Ayres Hotel and with outdoor seating available in their lovely Mediterranean style courtyard. They are home to the BEST Monte Cristo sandwich in Orange County, maybe all of California. I'm also a big fan of the French Onion Soup, but honestly, in all the years I've been coming here, I've never had anything bad here. Those are just my favorites. The salads are really good and I also enjoy the fish and chips.

Service here is friendly, attentive and fast. They know the menu and are ready with recommendations if you want them.

They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and they have a happy hour and weekend brunch.

We came to Le Chateau Garden Bistro in Costa Mesa to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it turned out to be a wonderful choice. Our host Miguel was very accommodating and even let us order from the happy hour menu with just 8 minutes left, which we really appreciated.

We tried the Coconut Margarita and Jalapeño Margarita—both were excellent and quickly became our favorites. For food, we ordered the mini caprese, BBQ chicken flatbread, and truffle fries, all of which were fresh and flavorful. To top it off, they surprised us with a slice of cheesecake for the birthday celebration, which was a really nice touch.

The restaurant itself is tucked inside a hotel with a beautiful setting by the fountain, giving it a cozy and relaxing vibe. Free parking was a plus, and the service throughout was quick and attentive.

Overall, a great experience with good food, amazing drinks, and thoughtful service. Perfect spot for a special occasion.

I got a dirty napkin and I asked for dressing on the side but got ignored.
The food is ok, the garden is beautiful though

I was expecting a very nice meal in a nice environment but got a less than nice meal in a decent environment. The room is really nice and clean with a great vibe. The servers were very friendly and eager to please. The food….not so much. I ordered the short rib tacos and asked the server if they are pork or beef. He said pork so I ordered. The food came fairly quickly and there were 3 tacos and some salad and a lemon wedge. The salad and lemon looked like they’ve been sitting out for several hours and the tacos didn’t look much better. The meat was definitely beef and was Sahara desert dry! On the upside, the beer was cold and the chips and salsa were tasty. The server apologized and offered to send the food back AND offered me a discount so kudos to him. I can not recommend the short rib tacos AT ALL.

From the photos I’m seeing of some of the other dishes, I can see how some of the food here might be pretty good, but my breakfast was not good, especially for $17. I ordered the country breakfast— scrambled eggs were like the kind you get at a buffet and devoid of any seasoning, the bacon was equivalent to cheap, thin store-brand bacon, the tomatoes were no-flavor romas. The toast was fine but nothing to write home about. I got hollandaise sauce on the side and even that managed to lack seasoning. Had this been $10, I probably wouldn’t be complaining, but it was nearly $20 for something I could have made better at home. I wish I had gotten pictures but I didn’t think to.

Service was great and very fast, and the ambiance was beautiful. But I’d trade both of those things for better food.

Where do I start? Clean, spacious and esthetically decorated with French doors leading to a fountain garden sets the relaxing mood. The food - huge portions! And the servers are very accommodating. I have food allergies and the staff - wait staff and chef- had no problems accommodating me. The waitstaff are all knowledgeable in the ingredients used to prepare the food so that they don't have to make multiple trips to the chef just to find something I can safely eat! Top this whole experience with a very comfortable night's rest in the Ayers hotel, I couldn't have chosen a better place to stay and dine.

Dietary restrictions: I am a celiac with allergies to soy and tomato. They had no problem accommodating me.
