Food is excellent but portions are small. Service is good and ambiance is excellent. Very good overall value for this economy.

Everything was great! The food was spectacular and combed with the wonderful service made the night great.

Will be coming back! Food and service are great. If you're not sure what to order, the Premium is a great starting point, though a bit pricy. Now that we have a better understanding for our faves, we'll order items separately and pick our top choices.

way too expensive for the quantity of food, you're better off going to anjin or tsuruhashi.

The food is outstanding fresh and very, very tasty.. love the cabbage salad-the Shishido peppers.. pretty much everything we had was absolutely divine

Torn writing this review as this is Costa Mesa‘s best Secret.  Best A5 & Wagyu around. Don't spread the word! Lol.

The hostess was very rude and unprofessional. She was going to seat my party at the worst table in the restaurant when there were other open tables available.

The quality of US wagyu is really good. Differs from Japanese A5 but not as greasy and still tender. Recommended for the quality of meat. Try the beef sukiyaki where the thin slice of beef wrapped with rice ball and raw egg yolk as dressing; it's like the taste of heaven!

The service was the worst I've ever experienced for an $800 meal. They were passive aggressive, ignored us and brought us the wrong meat, which they said they would refund then didn't. We didn't realize it was tongue until we saw it cooked as I'm not very familiar with tongue (I ordered the short rib with scallions). They told us they would refund it so we gave the cooked pieces to the table next to us to try it then the waitress came back saying we ate it so they wouldn't refund it. We waited 40 mins for fried rice even though the table who sat and ordered 10 mins after us got theirs 15 mins before we did. I asked 5x before it finally came at the end of our meal. Huge issue bc my son got braces a few days before and couldn't eat anything else, which I told the waitress but she did not care. They also did not care and ignored my request when I asked them to talk to me on my side of our 10pp table as my 80yo father-in-law wears a hearing aid and cannot hear very well. 80% of the time they still only went on his side of the table. I just wanted to leave and even though the manager knew the issues we were having, as I was paying for the entire bill in full he had asked if we enjoyed our meal. I looked at him and said, you know we didn't as I had seen the waitress talk to him about our bill. At that point, he started freaking out that I was going to leave them a bad review and started to make a scene. I told him I just wanted to pay and leave. He wouldn't let me and kept begging me to not leave him a bad review. Again, I told him I just wanted to pay and leave. He started taking things off my bill if I promised to not leave a bad review. Again, I told him I just wanted to pay and leave. We will NEVER go back to another Manpuku ever again. The meat we did eat also tasted like dirty wet rag. Absolutely awful. And I was never planning on leaving a review until he tried to pay me not to.

Manpuku is legit Japanese BBQ, full stop. Simply "leave it to them" as they say, and you will not regret it!

Went to Manpuku the other day for the first time and it was great. Their servers were excellent and always knew when we needed anything. Our favorite dish was the garlic fried rice, but the kobe beef and the beef tongue were delicious as well. I also liked the environment as it felt like a fancy, worthwhile experience. Definitely coming back here.
