Was looking for an exceptional butter cream cake for my wife's birthday. Started searching on Google for bakeries and Penelope's caught my eye. I stopped by the shop to get a sense of what they were about and spoke with Penelope's husband who was so passionate about his wife's cakes, I ended up ordering an 8' vanilla butter cream cake. Per their instructions I let the cake sit out for what turned out to be a little over 5 hours before serving and I have to say, this is, without a doubt, the best cake I've ever had and it's not even close. There is really nothing that you can't love about this place.

Since then, I’ve used them for every occasion, for all of the birthday parties for my two boys, and any other party. Their cakes are SO delish, I love the butter cream, and the designs are so beautiful! I’ve been referring others to Penelope’s and every one of them have been pleased. This cake was for my friends baby shower it was a 2 tiered cake 6 inch on top of a 9 inch on bottom. Let me start by saying the cake looked beautiful on the outside I had it done plain white textured. We were told to let the cake stand room temperature a minimum 4 hours since we had the berry filling inside. We took it out of the fridge at 1 pm and didn't eat until 6:30 pm the cake was so hard to cut and the inside cake was very, very dry not moist at all!!!! The berry filling part was good but everything thing else was hard and dry. I know this is a wedding cake shop so this kinda boggles my mind. I'm so disappointed and embarrassed because people were saying how dry the cake was. I don't think I will be ordering from here again I should have just ordered the Chantilly cake from Whole Foods which is moist and delicious and much, much cheaper.

We used Penelope's Perfections for our wedding cake and they did not disappoint! Both my husband and I are not big cake lovers but their buttercream style cake is to die for - all of our guests complimented the taste and full texture of the cake. Roderick and Penny made the entire experience great, the in person tasting was fun and this duo is full of cake knowledge to share! We asked for a bit of a non traditional cake and they were able to make it happen! From booking to delivery the process was flawless. We are excited to go back on our one year and get a small cake to enjoy in celebration! We don't have any photos yet of our non cut cake but it was perfect!

From the start, the cake tasting session was highly informative and constructive in terms of choosing our dream wedding cake, and the delivery and execution on the day of the event was flawless. And I'm sure it goes without saying that the cake itself was absolutely beyond delicious. We had both their lemon and their strawberries & cream cakes and everyone complimented and loved them.

I ordered a 3 tier cake from Penelope's for a company anniversary party, and it was the best choice I made! This is a late review as the event happened in October, but had to remind myself to leave this here because my company and my own experience with Penelope was that much great. From taste to delivery, everything was served on point. They were also one of the only bakeries offering flowers and toppers! Usually, cake bakeries are used to doing wedding cakes so don't provide complimentary flowers or toppers. However, Penelope's not only offered these options but also had reasonable prices. Few other things my company & I loved from Penelope's:- I showed them the design inspiration and visuals I had in mind. They crafted the final design just as I expected it to be!- Taste was good as the design. Fillings and flavors satisfied everyone at the event :)- I visited their bakery in person to discuss few urgent requests, and Penelope kindly greeted and responded to all my inquiries despite the busy day she had!- Delivery came with the cake safely guarded. Thank you for making sure the cake got to us all good!- Highly recommend Penelope's if you need cake for all kinds of events - even company anniversary parties like mine

This is the best cake shop in Southern California! My wife and I chose them to provide our wedding cake, and we could not have been happier. My wife had a rather unusual flavor idea (salted caramel and Bevarian creme) that wasn't on their recommended list; however, the bakers tried the flavor pairing and said it was actually phenomenal! So we got a custom designed cake with a custom flavor pairing, and it was absolutely perfect. So rich and decadent, but never overwhelming, too light or too sweet. Plus, it was the most beautiful cake I'd ever seen! We loved them, and you definitely will too.

We presented inspiration photos for a mermaid themed cake for our daughter's birthday party and the result was a beautiful and delicious custom cake. The work was exquisite! The staff was very professional and thorough when it came to my husband and I deciding on our wedding cake design and taste. On the day of our wedding, the process of picking up our cake was seamless. My husband, myself, and guests were blown away on how the cake tasted. They all were saying it was the "most delicious piece of cake they have put in their mouths, truly a piece of heaven." We will definitely be looking forward to our one year anniversary and will be going back to Penelope's for future occasions.

These cakes are perfection!! Got a plain vanilla buttercream with raspberry and vanilla - was ready next day in the am. I decorated it with my own flowers and everyone was raving about how beautiful it was but then the actual cake ??? the merengue buttercream frosting is so light and nothing about the cake is overly sweet. Moist crumb, perfect layers. Definitely using them again and the owner was so friendly! Thank you!!

Even more importantly, the cakes are always delicious! It's hard to find cakes that are both beautiful and taste good, but Penelope's has it down!I contacted them this year for a circus themed cake for my daughter's 6th birthday. I sent some inspiration photos and a [very poorly done] drawing I did for what I'd like, and the cake came out perfectly! All our guests were commenting how beautiful it was. We can't wait to see what they create for us next year.
