Takumi Sushi is a hidden gem in Costa Mesa! The charming, quaint interior transports you straight to a peaceful Japanese village, while the patio seating lets you soak in that perfect California sunshine — a great blend of East meets West.

Their Japanese-American fusion sushi is both creative and affordable. Rolls are just $7.50 for 4 generous pieces, and nigiri starts around $2.75 — a total steal for the quality and flavor. Every bite tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

Big thanks to Michael for the stellar service — this place exceeded expectations. Really quick service too!!

Really good and fresh meals. I didn't eat-in (I did a to-go order) so I can't comment too much on what it feels like to eat-in, but from their authentic looking Japanese decor and cozy-low-lighting, I thinking it would have been a good experience to eat there.

I ordered their Beef Teryaki Bento box with Beef Teryaki, a mixed green salad along with rice and Miso Soup with it. It was delicious. I only wish they included a 4 piece California Rolls and some Vegetable and Shrimp Tempura, like they do in Sankai Costa Mesa (if they still do that there. Haven't been there in a long-time). I had to order those separate. Either way, I was very satisfied with the meal and will be ordering from these guys again! ❤👍

I had an incredible dining experience at Takumi Sushi, thanks in large part to my server, James. From the moment I was seated, he was attentive and knowledgeable. His recommendations were spot-on and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend dining here!

The sushi here is really decent and good. There’s a really good cooked section on the menu for the ones who can’t handle straight up raw. The portions are great, they’re not so big where you get full off of a few orders. Come and try it out and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

This place deserves much more recognition. I like that they have their rolls in 4-pieces sets so you can try more than 1. Their fresh bluefish tuna is the best 🤤 The "ex-girlfriend" roll was so delicious. The miso soup was really good too. The people are very kind and attentive. The prices are very reasonable too for good sushi!

I added it to my favorites list and will be returning soon :)

Cute little spot! There was definitely a wait on a Friday night but it wasn’t that long. The restaurant wraps around so there’s a bit of room! We order a combo platter and normal rolls. The platter came out so much later than the rolls. Which is weird because you’d think that takes less time to prepare. However the fish was really really thick so I guess that makes up for the slowness lol!! It tasted great and fresh! The rolls were great too 🍣. Also the garlic edamame 🫛 was also great!! Would recommend it all! My friend thought the service was kind of slow lol but we also had 6 people. Would definitely come back! 👍

This restaurant was a hidden gem for us! We visited it 4 times in just 2 months since the first try as we fell in love with it. The fish and seafood they use for sushi are just so fresh. I think they are the freshest sushi that I have ever. I would highly recommend trying the toro (fatty tuna) sushi because it is just amazing and eye-opening the moment you put it in your mouth. I would also recommend the sweet shrimp sushi because the shrimp is good and they also give you the fried shrimp head which I enjoyed as I love crunchy food. If you come to this restaurant, I wouldn't recommend eating the rolls because they are not as good as the sashimi and sushi. And it would be really wasted to come to this restaurant to try the rolls because it would not highlight the freshness of the fish in this restaurant. So just order sashimi or sushi to have the best experience, in my opinion.
Overall, strongly recommend this restaurant.
