My family and I have always come here since we were kids, and even longer since my parents first dated. The food is wonderful and the restaurant owners are so kind. Great food, atmosphere, and truly a wonderful experience. We always get the new style sashimi, tamago (and it's the best), and other sushi. Their tempura rolls are wonderful. :)

? ? Do yourself a favor, Seared Peppered Salmon.....It's not on the menu, but it's life changing and you'll thank me for it later! Holy cow! Don't let the run down shopping center fool you, or maybe even the lack of anyone else in there, this spot is amazing! My wife and I are creatures of habit, so we know for sure that the Rainbow Roll is great, the YellowTail is amazing and the spicy tuna is spot on! But the Seared Peppered Salmon ??
Beef skewers are pretty good and anikimo was okay. Nevertheless, they have a decent selection a bit on the pricey side. I probably would not dine here again.

I visit hayakawa too often when i live in Covina. Gotta try the omakase! the food was amazing and the ambiance is very romantic for a dinner date
this is hands down the best sushi restaurant I have been to between California and Mexico. Kazu and his wife have crafted in my opinion the finest dining experience in town and the food is outstanding. I go for lunch and dinner and If I could show self control I would probably eat there once or twice a week. price dramatically changes whither you drink or not, and I usually have a bottle of cold sake. Also if you are planning on going on the weekend would recommend a reservation.
Kid-friendliness: kids are welcome but it is a quite dining setting for the most part.
Parking: plenty of parking.
My boyfriend and I got the omakase here and it was really delicious! Many different fish options with some raw and some cooked. The fish was all amazingly soft and melted in my mouth. For dessert they had a Mille feuille crepe cake that was so good. This place is run by an actual Japanese family, so you’re sure to get authentic sushi. It was so good.
Love this place! My husband and I would come here for lunch when we both work from home. Service is excellent and food quality is very good! Dinner time can be very packed, which means you will need reservations. Highly recommend!
This is an amazing place. Very quiet and low key atmosphere serving sensational Japanese cuisine. High quality and good size portions prepared with care and attention to detail. Have never been disappointed or served something subpar. The miso black cod is delicious and probably my favorite. Definitely leave room for dessert and get the Mille Crepe with the French pressed coffee.
Foods were good, there are dinner set and price is reasonable and you cannot find any replacement in the area.

I went to this restaurant when I was buying a new car at Bozanni Volkswagen several blocks away. I am waiting for the State Farmers to issue the new car's insurance. I had a steak set, the food is ok, but the steak was too hard to bite. The sashimi was fresh, the environment is very Japanese.
Best sushi experience around West Covina area. No need to drive to Torrance or fly to Japan for a decent J cuisine~ their nigiri is so fresh and on point! Definitely recommend this for anyone who’s interested in authentic Japanese food.
We were there celebrating a birthday. I had the Nigiri special. And wow... just, wow. The everything was excellent. Nothing had that fishy flavor or odor that you sometimes come across. The service was also perfect: very friendly and attentive. They sang happy birthday and even comped us a cake for the party. We all ordered green tea ice cream, so it was especially kind of them.If you love sushi, I highly recommend Restaurant Hayakawa. I'm sure they'd be happy to have you.
Been coming since I was a kid, staff is always very friendly and food is great. Lunch special is a steal.
