I love their teas and the mango smoothie! The mango smoothie with boba or any type of jelly is amazing.
I saw today that the store will close by the end of this month. I don't know if the team will see this, but I wanted to say how much this place meant for me at least.
During covid, like most people, me and my boyfriend were having financially hard time, also pretty bad job situations. We were sleeping in a twin bed together in a bachelors unit type of financial situation. One day, my boyfriend, stressed and wanting to give up, got like a mango smoothie as a sweet treat. It was a big purchase for us at the time but every sip was worth it. It became like a bi-weekly treat for us, where he would get a drink on the way home and we would share it. During my birthday, we got a large size mango smoothie as a super treat that day haha.
Now, I am financially way stable, we are still in the area, much better living situation and wayyy better jobs. But I would still go in an get drinks from there. Sometimes matcha, milk tea with jelly, and our classic favorite mango smoothie.
We would watch Latea trying to bring a community there. Sometimes I would see students sharing their favorite kpop idol merch there in the corner, I remember when they had the Tubby Nugget there! I missed it but it was such a cute event.
This maybe a lot for a google review, or anything, also I'm pretty bad at writing so I don't even know if anyone will read this. But I wanted to tell the team that I will miss them in this beautiful corner of Culver City. My walk back home was more emotional than I expected after reading the closure announcement. Your drinks meant a lot to me, and I will visit before end of month for another mango smoothie.
Thank you for all these years!
Guy was on the phone, then got my order wrong. I was the only person in the store.
Hard to find a good milk tea place around and luckily Latea is around and hits the spot!
Their ube latte (both hot and iced) is worth coming here for. I literally haven't tried anything else because it's the only spot in the neighborhood that even has an ube latte and it's SO creamy, tasty and frothy. My only wish is that they opened at 9am.
To be honest, the drinks could be significantly better.
Got the tropical punch and it was refreshing! It very much reminded me of hibiscus water
OMG did someone say handmade boba? This place is awesome, and busy. I had some sample treats I've never seen before, it was out of this world. I will be back for another experience!
I’ve been to my fair share of boba places and this one probably ranks in the middle of the pack, neither super spectacular nor totally terrible. There is a specific vegan menu of about 4-5 drinks, but I assume most of their other drinks can be veganized. I tried the brown sugar (soy) milk tea with boba which had like 3 ice cubes (I chose regular ice level), two few for my taste. I would pass on this place to be honest.
A little sugary, but if you can find the right sweetness for you then it’s bomb
Small but Cute place. The staff was nice and friendly. Limited seating and drink options available.

Really relaxing study spot and you can taste that the boba is handmade. Parking is not the easiest but Culver City steps lot is probably the best way to go.
Roasted brown sugar with boba was very good!
Latea is a shell of its former self. With good conscience, I can no longer recommend Latea.
Latea is a chain boba shop in four different states, one of which is in the Culver City area of California. Specializing in Taiwanese-based bubble tea, Latea is a boutique-style shop with a cozy atmosphere.
Latea used to be one of my favorite places on the west side of LA. Offering premium quality teas and well-cooked boba, Latea's selection of drinks was a hit for fruit and milk tea lovers alike. Whenever I or my friends were on the west side for any reason, we made it a mission to hit up Latea before we left.
When we initially were introduced to Latea by a friend, the taste of the tea in the milk tea drinks was prominent and had depth. It impressed me since Latea was able to strike a balance between the strong tea flavor with the creaminess from the milk. In addition, the boba was cooked well throughout. It had the perfect amount of chewiness with a hint of sweetness to have a harmonious drink. With the pure tea drinks, they were also strong with a nice aroma as well. As such, we kept going every few months even though it was on the pricey side. In our minds, the quality justified the price point.
Unfortunately, around 1.5 years ago, the quality decreased heavily. Initially, we thought it might have been new staff members or a bad batch, but the quality was consistently disappointing. When we went again last week after a long hiatus, the quality also matched the same disappointment from before as well. The Taiwan Oolong Milk Tea that I got was way too milky and it overpowered any semblance of strong tea flavor. In addition, with the boba, it was a bit hard in the center. Aside from the milk teas, the pure tea that we got also felt like it was watered down. With a price point of $8.76 for a large milk tea with boba, my expectations fell much shorter than expected.
Overall, the experience was lackluster. Between the expensive offering that doesn't match the quality and the sharp decrease in quality compared to Latea's prior offerings, I will need to find a new boba shop on the west side.
Nice place to buy a Boba tea..Delicious!
I've been to a lot of bubble tea shops in LA, and Latea is one of the best. The people who work there are kind and helpful. The drinks are customizable and delicious—they taste like actual tea, fruit, etc., not just generic sugary beverage. Most importantly, the brown sugar boba is vegan. It's a great place to sit with a drink and work or hang out for a while. And it doesn't hurt that it's right next door to Monty's :)
