The food was meh and the waitress was meh. Didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. Would not recommend.

Mija has been in my Yelp collection of places to try in Culver. It's in the center at the corner of Sepulveda & Washington. It has a spacious and comfortable outdoor heated patio and a huge indoor space. My first impression when I walked inside was WOW. The aesthetic and decor was stunning. It was comfortable and cozy but elegant and cool at the same time. I was greeted right away by Mel, with a friendly welcome and smile as she showed me to my table where I was meeting a friend for dinner and a few drinks. I'd studied the menu in advance- like I was preparing for the SAT exam, and I was really excited to finally be here. Mel was happy to make a few drink recommendations but being a creature of habit, I went with the strawberry margarita. I've got to tell you guys that the bartender deserves a hug and a raise because it was literally the absolute best margarita I've ever had. (and I've had more than a few). It was made with fresh strawberries, not some of that bottled syrup that you get in most places. After the first sip, I knew there was a second in my future! I was really excited to find out that they serve breakfast items all day, but I was in the mood for something a little bit more savory so we decided to share an order of the chicken nachos to start. Mel told us that everything was scratch made and they'd be happy to accommodate our request to make them with red and green sauce. The nachos came hot from the kitchen and I've got to tell you these nachos are a game changer. Most of the time when you think nachos you think bar food. These nachos were definitely next level! The chips were fresh the cheese was fresh. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and the sauces were definitely freshly made. I could hear the singing coming from my tummy as I was taking every bite. They are fork and knife nachos so you can get every single bite. For my entrée, I decided on Flautas - one potato with chile and one chicken. They were absolutely huge - accompanied by fresh salsa and rice. They were topped with arugula with a very light vinaigrette and pickled red onions. The same delicious moist flavorful chicken and the potato and chili were both delicious. Every single bite was perfect. The flour tortillas they were wrapped in were perfectly golden and deliciously crispy. Of course, at this point, I was on my second margarita because why not? Lucky for me that they didn't have straws because I would've probably had another! Did I mention that we scored $5 Happy Hour prices? Yay! Mija is definitely a place where you can know that every dish is made with intention and love. I'm even more excited about the fact that it's away from the hustle and bustle and chaos that is downtown Culver. It's right in my own backyard and easy to get to with plenty of parking. It's right off of the 405 at Sepulveda so it's easy access from just about anywhere. I don't know why this place is not packed because the quality and flavors of the food are beyond anything I could've expected and the prices are amazing. The service we received from Mel and the talented bartender are definitely worth a shout out. They were friendly customer oriented, and genuinely appreciative of our business. The next time you were looking for a casual place with excellent food and even better service in a great location, you have to come in and give them a try. You won't be disappointed and like me, you'll wonder why it took you so long to finally get there. Mija Handcraft Kitchen - thanks for the amazing food and drinks. It was an exceptional experience and you will definitely see me again soon.

I visited Mija for lunch with a coworker and had a lovely experience. The space is really big and decorated beautifully. Aaron was our server and he was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We split the chicken spinach wrap and the fish tacos, and also had a side salad and potato soup. All of the items were well balanced in flavor and generous portions. We really loved the sweet pepper aioli in the wrap and the house made tortillas that the tacos came on. Would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu!

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. First, I had a reservation but it took them an additional 20 minutes to get our table ready despite no other customers in the restaurant so it wasn't busy. Then it took forever to get our drinks, and half of them were made and then left at the bar for over 20 minutes. We eventually just went over and brought them to the table ourselves. The food took even longer to come, we sat down at 1:30 but didn't start eating until 2:30. Then when it came out it was awful. They were somehow out of eggs despite half their menu being breakfast items... What was so weird is there were only 4 other groups at the restaurant so it wasn't busy at all. None of the staff seemed to care that things were so delayed and wrong and they made us feel like we weren't wanted there. Will definitely not be going back.

This may have been one of the worst overall experiences I have had going out in LA. Showed up for a 1pm reservation and the table was not ready. It was almost like they didn't expect us to actually show up. They scrambled for more than 20 Minutes to try and put the table together. When we finally sat down at 1:20, we sat down and noticed all the dishes and silverware were dirty and spotty like someone just ran water over it and called it clean. Drink: took more than 25 minutes to be made and when they came out they tasted like they were missing alcohol. Only 1 person from our group liked their drink and it was one of the only people who did not order an alcoholic drink. Food: Almost every item that was ordered was drowning in an overly salty green sauce. I sent back my dish, and my girlfriend didn't end up getting her dish because the server forgot that they were out of her dish. Many others from our group also had issues including overly salty food, messing up orders due to not writing anything down, and the food just straight up being BAD. Overall our entire group left completely dis-satisfied, hungry for more food, and wondering what the hell went wrong because during this entire 2 hour debacle, the restaurant was never more than 30 percent full. I will not be returning again.

My new favorite find in Culver City, incredible food as I work my way through the menu... it's so easy to order the same thing, yet the menu is so full of great options...Mom had a double berries scone for dessert, I got a second side of carrots ??, I have never really been a fan of cooked carrots...They are that good!!!I thought can I eat the salmon skin & realized I order salmon skin sushi... so I did... OMG just the best

This is one of my favorite west side restaurants. Chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, the Guy Fiere monte cristo, the green chile omelette— all fantastic and generously proportioned. Service is friendly and professional

Beyond disappointed! Came here on a Friday, should have known when the outdoor seating was completely empty and my daughter commented, "is anyone even here?" We were seated immediately and promptly ordered the chips/salsa/guacamole appetizer. While we waited for that to arrive I ordered the vegan bowl and my daughter ordered Mac n cheese w tomatillo salsa ON THE SIDE. Service was beyond slow and I don't blame our server bc he came by but it took over 30 MINUTES just to get our chips, salsa, and guacamole!! However, guacamole is a generous description for smashed avocado w lime. Even the addition of bland pico de gallo didn't help it. And, instead of spicy, the salsa was sweet. Our main entrees finally arrive, 45 minutes after we first sat down. As he set them down in front of us I immediately notice that the salsa we'd ordered on the side was slathered all over the macaroni and cheese so that was sent back. I took large bite of what I thought was hummus but no, was more avocado/lime. Confused bc I swore menu had said hummus so I looked on my phone and see that the vegan bowl was missing hummus, pickled cabbage, and watermelon radish. The server's response was "oh yeah, we're out of hummus." --information that should have been disclosed when we ordered. It took another 10 minutes to get my daughter's Mac n cheese w/o tomatillo salsa. Definitely would not call this Mexican or even Mexican inspired food. Bland, sweet salsa, smashed avocado instead of guacamole, dishes not prepared as described and SMALL portion sizes for the price. We most definitely will not be going back to Mija in the future.

I visited here a few months back based on reviews and found its aesthetic to be pleasant. Parking is on the street or inside next to restaurant. The entrance has seating outside with a sign introducing why the restaurant came to be. Classy. Entering the restaurant, there is a pastry counter that is nice. You can grab orders to go or a dessert. Walking to our wooden bench seats, we realized the table seats against the wall are hard and the booth is small. We sat in the middle area. I ordered chile releno and the appetizers were the tomato brushetta and chips with salsa and guac. My guest ordered the monte cristo. The chile releno had a beer battered cover and was laid in a pool of salsa verde. It was sour and tangy! I could not eat more than a bite. I never tasted beer battered, only egg battered. I explained to the waitress about my tastebuds and she offered a replacement. I got the huevos rancheros. Yummmm. It was the perfect combo of flavors. The tomato brushetta was just muddled warm tomatoes with light flavor. I could have saved some belly room and not ordered that. The chips and salsa perfecttt combo and flavors. My guest had the monte cristo and it greasy, fried hard with a little jam and not much meat. It was literally a well done reconstructed french toast.

This place is honestly like a hidden gem. The aesthetic is very beautiful both inside and out. This place feels modern and the food speaks for itself. There’s very delicious vegan options here! I’ve been here about 4 times in the past 6 months because it’s flavor quality is superb and is not heavy on the stomach. The vegan enchiladas were probably my favorite but all foods were just as highly enjoyable!
