I recently came back and their quality has definitely gone down since they first opened. They used to use a really crispy roasted style of seaweed and now it's the plain, chewy type. They've started to skimp on the fish so the rolls aren't as big. I ended up returning the first roll because the fish was so stringy. The people next to me did as well. Just go to kazu nori if you're considering a hand roll place.

I got the 6 handroll set which was really good value. All of the included handroll options were good. I ordered the handrolls as spicy, but none tasted a hint of spicy at all. I wished the service was a little slow, but I came at the end of their lunch hours and only one chef was working.

I would definitely come here again and try their special handrolls.

OMG - the most delicious yumminess. Near perfect casual eating experience. Easy online wait list for only bar seating. The loveliest servers and perfect handrolls delivered one by one to your spot. Want to go again and again.

Great addition to the culver steps area! This place can get busy so watch out but there is a reason! The quality is great and the sake is easy to drink! We ordered the 6 hand roll set and got a few extra ones that we liked. You can book a table before you arrive on Yelp. Bar seating is limited and they have a different menu for table seating outside. I’d recommend sitting at the bar if the wait isn’t long! Staff super friendly and kind.

My boyfriend and I are big sugarfish/ Kazunori fans but we thought we’d give this a shot. At the end of the day, we keep going back to Kazu due to disappointing experiences elsewhere. While I can’t speak to the in-dining experience, I wouldn’t recommend this for takeout. The size of each piece in the cut roll is extremely tiny (never seen something so small for sushi) and it was not filling, even when ordering the 4-cut roll set. Better to stick with Kazunori, as it’s cheaper and sizable/ filling.

very busy. I think I prefer Kazunori for hand rolls but this place has more variety.

I had a quiet late afternoon lunch on a weekday, so the place wasn't too busy. I'm a Kazunori loyalist so it's hard for me to want to go anywhere else for handrolls haha (I prefer the slight acidity of their rice, but that purely a personal perference) But I'll be coming back here again. Only dinging a star because I felt like the shishito peppers were too salty / over seasoned for my liking. But the star of my meal was the salmon skin handroll. What a fantastic bite. Excellent.

The HEAVEN of handrolls! The 6 piece is my go-to every time I visit. Worth every penny! Fresh. Flavorful. Perfection. But, the shrimp tempura appetizer is my favorite- hands down!

Really great place for some hand rolls. We got the hand roll set of 6 and all of them were delicious. We also got the Shrimp Tempura and those were pretty good though they had a bit too much sauce. We were pretty full by the end. The service was great as well!

Kid-friendliness: There were many families with kids eating there without any issues.

If compared to Kazunori, it's ok.
I am curious that only 1 sushi chef is working in the shop.
Overall, it's a great experience. The seaweed on the toro is too soft and hard to bite

Obsessed. Used to go to kazunori at least once a week and haven’t been back since this place opened. Make sure you get the spicy version of the rolls and try the red rice ale.

The rolls were great. +10 for the salmon roll... the crispy rice appetizer was very flavorful. Last favorite was the shrimp tempura roll.. very underwhelming.

I have a shellfish allergy and there was cross contamination with the first handroll. When I was working through my next steps for my allergic reaction (I’m anaphylactic) the chef was dismissive telling me that if I was allergic it would’ve happened already so I was fine. Literally no precautions were taken for allergies and the staff was rude telling me what I am and am no allergic to.
