Food was great and service was straightforward. You order your food at the counter and they bring to your table.

I generally like this restaurant, but sometimes when you order takeout online, they forgot to give you porridge. Always check if they give you porridge when you take the food!

Had an online order and pick up on Sep/17, and my wife start vomiting and diarrhea after having their food. The porridge is the only dish that my friend and I didn’t eat, but my wife had a little, then she went to ER and got diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis…

I usually come to eat here with my girlfriend, and today I came by myself, they packed my order to go when I told them it was for dining in, i tried to sit in the restaurant but they didn't allow me to do so, just because I'm not asían, i felt so disrespected with their racism.

Having been coming here for almost a decade, Taiwan Porridge is not just a staple in Cupertino but also holds a special place in my heart.

This super basic no frills spot feels like you're just grabbing breakfast in a homey environment that is unashamedly itself. Their job is not to impress you but to provide you with a good meal for a cheap price and serve the community in their own way.

The concept is simple. Grab your Taiwanese sweet potato porridge and pick your sides. You can have as few or as many as you want to buy to go along with your porridge. There is a huge variety although they sometimes run out.

This is comfort food that you can eat solo or enjoy with others. The portions are generous.

The place itself is very basic and to some may even seem run down or stuck in the past but honestly that's part of the appeal and goes with the ethos of the restaurant.

The service is always efficient and they never stop moving. The place gets busy so there is no time to rest.

The parking lot is large but it can get quite busy so do keep that in mind.

Overall, if you're looking for a warm bowl of porridge goodness with the option of many basic sides for a meal that feels honest, homey, and a good value, you can't go wrong with Taiwan Porridge. Can't help but to round up to 4.5 stars.

I ordered one dish for takeout (and included tips) and then because of an incoming call, I decided to sit down and eat while waiting. A few minutes into eating while on the phone, the cashier lady came to me said “you ordered takeout and you cannot eat here”, and then she abruptly took away my chopsticks from my hand while I was on the phone. It was on an important call so I was unable to say anything, but i felt so shocked and disrespected. This was the first time my chopsticks were taken away by a restaurant staff. I was not informed if i ordered takeout I could not change my mind. This is ridiculous. Never want to come back again. 8/10/2025

We walked in and asked a few people. We said three, and they kept waiting at the door. No one paid attention to us, and they didn't arrange for us to sit at any table. All the waiters were busy with their own business and treated us like nothing, so we won't come again.

Meat dishes have so much salt, oil and MSG to cover the real taste. Terrible service. Will not come again.

When I saw the advertisements on the website, I was reminded of the past two years ago.
After ordering online and paying the bill, I went to the store to pick up the meal. The store said that a certain dish was not available today and asked me to change it from several options. After being rejected, the young male clerk (guessed to be the store owner) said that he could not refund my money today because he still had to pay for it. I didn’t receive the money and refused to refund immediately (in that case, I didn’t get any food today, so why should I be charged?)
The store asked to leave a phone number and said that the refund would not be processed until the money was deposited into the account. After a few days, I did not receive it. I called to inquire and said that I had forgotten it and would process it now. Only then did I receive the refund.
The store doesn't sell that dish and doesn't indicate it on the website. Is this the customer's fault? After arriving at the scene, I forced myself to give someone else another meal. After being rejected, I insisted on delaying the refund, and then failed to fulfill my promise and delayed the refund again. A series of outrageous handling methods. Who is willing to come to the door again to find trouble for themselves?

Bad service. The server refused to change the wrong food that she put in to the box. She was rude.
