After having a fantastic experience at
"Pasta E Pasta" my wife insisted to try
Cafe Hiro after one of her coworker said
"Cafe Hiro is way better" wow those are fighting words and must be investigated.
Google decided to take the scenic route...
Not really she took the wrong on ramp lol.
CF (Cafe Hiro), was hidden in typical for LA
strip mall surrounded by a smattering of Asian food establishments. As we walked in to CF we got greeted by a young lady offering us a table after checking that we had a reservation.
Let's get to the food.
Calamari Friti
Nice looking rings with a sprinkling of Parmesan and parsley and a few slices of lemon. The calamari was tough, very tough
and could have used an garlic or Sriracha aioli to lubricate the tough calamari. Big bummer.
Spaghetti Carbonara
Not bad, but here is another restaurant that thinks salt is bad for you!!??
Come on, salt makes food better and particularly spaghetti needs to boil in a high salinity solution, or it tastes bland.
I do like my Carbonara saucy and that I got. The ham/bacon was liberally added to the spaghetti to add some pizzaz to the dish. So if the cook reads this review add salt to the dish.
Spaghetti with garlic, mushrooms. Reminded me of a typical Japanese soup.
Lots of spaghetti, some veggies and broth.
This was my wife's dish, so I only had a mouthful or two.... again salt was missing.
But I honestly wasn't impressed.
Bummer to have to write a negative review as the service was delightful and it was easy to find a parking space.

The food is OUTSTANDING! The level of cooking, and the blend of sauces, could not be beat in any 5 star restaurant. Even the plating is excellent. It’s too bad I just dived in without a photo tonight.

I have eaten almost everything on the menu. My favorite is the ahi tuna tartar. When we lived in California we ate here once a week. We have lived in Oregon for 13 years and every trip to CA takes us right to Hero.

I had high expectations for Cafe Hiro after reading some rave reviews online, but I was let down by the food quality and presentation. The restaurant itself was cozy and welcoming, with dim lighting and soft music. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was fast.We ordered two dishes: uni pasta with spinach and chicken cutlet with curry sauce. We also got some drinks and bread to start with. The bread was warm and fresh, and the drinks were refreshing.I ordered the uni pasta was served in a small bowl, with the uni and spinach on top of the noodles. The chicken cutlet was placed on a large plate with rice on the side and the curry in a separate bowl. The taste was not much better. The uni pasta was bland and watery, and the spinach gave it a weird flavor that did not go well with the pasta. The chicken cutlet was tender and juicy, but the curry sauce was tasteless. It tasted like watered-down tomato sauce. The rice was dry and hard.I think Cafe Hiro needs to do a taste test review for their dishes once in a while for quality control. They also need to work on their food presentation.

I'm not kidding when I say this place is extremely good. Like very very good. It's a Italian Japanese fusion restaurant with a Vibe that takes you away to another place once you walk in. The restaurant is decorated throughout and painted on the ceiling to give a calming and serene feeling. It's one of those restaurants where you can tell that the chef in the back truly cares about the food they're putting out.Would I recommend it? Yes.Would I go again? Yes.Would I order the exact same things? Hell yes.Should you take your baby mama and all your friends? Definitely.
