Great sandwiches and service. The Santa Cruz is an excellent choice, the Surfin Bird, and the Surfin Pig great choices. Always consistent.

The food looks amazing. However looking at the menu for their $23 Woody sandwich? They also inform me, but there is a price increase on top of that as well. And for that I'll see you when the price increase goes down.

Ok, so got this when I was close to Dana Strands, staff....excellent per use. Food....straight up tasty, I am partial to the surfin bird and the beach bikini, with a side of the spicy pickle chips. Ambiance.....what can I say, grab a sandwich, drank, roll down to the beach and watch the surfer do it up right in So Cal.....leaving the dream man, living the dream.

STAY FAR FAR AWAY We've been coming to this location for years, and the quality of the food and service has substantially deteriorated to the point that we no longer will be coming to this location anymore. The Dana Point location staffs young teenagers with no leadership guiding them, and it shows. They appear overworked, underpaid, and take no pride in their work. Two recent incidents are indicative of this. I recently purchased an order for pickup an hour prior to my requested pickup time. Of course when I showed up to pick the order up at the requested time, not only was it not ready, but they hadn't even seen the ticket to make the sandwich. I had to wait over 25 minutes for the staff to then make my sandwich. That's 25 minutes AFTER the arranged pick up time. No apology, and no effort was made to fulfill my order as quickly as possible. This is unacceptable. Recently, we went into the store to place an order. The cashier didn't greet us or anything, just bluntly stated "there is a 25 minute wait." OK, fair enough. We said that's no problem, and placed our order. We then asked if it was possible for the cashier to give us a call when the order was ready to run an errand, and she agreed. Over 40 minutes passed and we received no phone call. We then decided to call the store to inquire about the status, and of course no one answered the phone, and there was no way to leave a voicemail. The phone just disconnected. We then drove back to the store to inquire in person, there was confusion with the staff but the order was ready...likely sitting there waiting for who knows how long. The cashier said to double check the order to ensure it was the right one. When we opened the order we were met with complete disappointment. It was the correct order but the sandwich was slopped together with less than half the usual meat and ingredient portion. Once again, absolutely unacceptable, especially for the high price of the sandwiches. Besides the lack of any customer service by the staff and the now low quality of the food, the bathrooms in the location are disgusting. The Dana Point location is nowhere near the quality and consistency of the San Clemente location. It's pathetic. Note this review was sent directly to the franchise owner of the restaurant. Of course, no response...

We hadn't been here in awhile so decided to stop by. Unfortunately they no longer have some ingredients for some of the sandwiches. The chip selection has changed. Food was just ok today. They don't wear gloves when making the sandwiches. They got the order wrong twice...very disappointing

The perfect location to have filling sandwiches(they never skimp on anything). Every time we come here we're always greeted by wonderful friendly staff, and never are disappointed. In the morning the sun falls on the outside patio perfectly. The outdoor music makes time go by.

Good food- this one's run by a few teenagers compared to the one in HB- it's a little bit slower but food is still good.

Place is almost empty and took about an hour to get a deli sandwich (estimate was 20min). Not sure if the kids working are just messing around, but no reason why they are only producing about 1 sandwich every 30min. The owner needs to step in and retrain or replace the staff. I wish I read the other reviews before ordering.

Went on a Saturday and thought we would order a quick sandwich to go. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait. No big deal, we weren't in that big of a rush. But an hour later and we still haven't received our sandwiches. There were other guests getting upset and the staff wasn't sympathetic or willing to cancel their orders. In the past hour we've counted 4 subs made for other people, which is completely unacceptable for an order that simply involves putting meat on a slice of bread. When we finally got our order, it wasn't even correct and couldn't be eaten because they didn't follow our request to exclude items for food allergies.

Huge portions, inside and outside dining. Nice place to eat after a walk on the beach!

Nice staff at the front desk (dude named Adam. Folks in the kitchen are a bit serious and angry it seems, but that’s ok - kitchen folks don’t need to talk to customers usually). It’s mainly a tourist hangout for guests of the Ritz Carlton nearby who are tired of paying $31 for a turkey sandwich there and walk here instead. Take-out took 30 min at 3pm on a random Sunday due to a long line of (*drunk*) hotel guests who decided lunch happens at 3pm after their buffet breakfasts in the morning were wearing off.Nevertheless the sandwiches are good here and the beer is cold! I like the vibe and the quality of their crisp fresh produce on the sammys. Bread is super soft and not at all crispy or toasted - so make sure you’re ok with that.I’m a local but still go and recommend it. Worth going just be prepared for lines of tourists sometimes. (FYI, if you are $$ conscious, do not go here. It’s pricey for what you get but that comes with the address being on Ritz Carlton Drive).
