Best bagels and açaí bowls in town. But the coffee is not good. Espresso is always burnt.

Coffee Importers my favorite coffee place in Dana Point Harbor but they have moved down to the Ocean Institute with lots of outdoor seating overlooking the harbor. Their new building is beautiful and they still have my favorite biscotti's plain and chocolate ones. There was no sign on their old building as to where they had gone but bumped into some locals who directed me to the Ocean Institute end of the harbor. Glad I found them and it looks like everyone else did too! It was bustling with business. Very happy they have survived the ongoing, taking forever, Dana Point Harbor remake! 🙂

We have been loyal coffee drinkers at the old location. The new location is vastly understaffed. We waited for 1/2 hour for the surfer dude barrista to make our lattes. We gave up.

After a much longer than anticipated bike ride, we arrived just after closing time. We had small kids who were hot, tired, and hoping for ice cream. The owner Jim and his staff went above and beyond to still serve us and they treated us so kindly! The ice cream sundaes were wonderful but the hospitality is what made the experience exceptional. That kind of service is hard to find sometimes. Thank you Jim and staff!

One of the best Bagels 🥯 I have had, they have a great selection.
You can seat to eat with Ocean View and fresh Ocean Breeze.
There is Gluten Free bread options, and is delicious.
Big variety of Vegetarian Dishes, also egg free dishes.
There is plenty of parking in front.

You know a place is the bee's knees when it's absolutely swarming at 9:30 AM on a Wednesday. Coffee Importers is clearly the hottest ticket in town, as evidenced by the intense competition for a table—especially if your dining companion happens to have four legs and a tail.

I can only assume the coffee is the absolute freshest in Dana Point, as it must be delivered daily via cargo ship, straight from the Pacific. It's a real treat to sit and ponder this logistical feat while enjoying the picturesque chaos of the harbor.

The whole ordering process is a masterclass in controlled pandemonium. It's a true test of one's patience and spatial awareness, as you navigate a thrilling obstacle course of dogs, strollers, and a bewildered clientele trying to figure out the mind-boggling concept of two separate lines. (Spoiler alert: one for drinks and pastries, one for food. It's not rocket science, folks.)

Once you've braved the lines, you're rewarded with a hefty #4 bagel sandwich, featuring a truly heroic portion of scrambled eggs—a solid return on your investment. The caramel mocha and iced latte were also very good, and I’m confident they were freshly liberated from their seafaring vessel just moments before. The lox and bagel was a fascinating culinary journey, with a whisper of lemon pepper that truly made it an unforgettable experience.

While there's no table service to speak of, the counter staff was friendly enough and impressively efficient given the circumstances. And a busser was even available to clear our table—a truly VIP touch.

My one regret is that we didn't get to enjoy the interior dining room and its lively fly population, but we made do with a prime patio seat. Be sure to grab a sleeve of day-old bagels on your way out. They’re a pretty good souvenir of your morning adventure.

The new Coffee Importers location at the Ocean Institute is a hidden gem! The interior is clean, beautifully designed, and thoughtfully laid out, with a modern coastal feel that’s stylish but still warm and welcoming. Outdoor seating is charming with a great view of the harbor—perfect for relaxing and people-watching.

Though the space is smaller, it’s well-organized and cozy. Parking can be tricky, but there are nearby lots and the short walk is totally worth it. Most importantly, the coffee, smoothies, and food are still the same high quality that made the original location so loved. If you’re in Dana Point, this spot is a must-visit!

The drinks are great but the ordering system is weird. I was informed I had to order coffee and pastries separate from food so I needed to make two different orders and wait in two different lines. Please fix this it just causes confusion and splits up groups and orders.

I've lived in California since 2018 and Coffee Importers has been one of my favorite places to visit.

This past weekend we checked out the new location at the Ocean Institute and it did not disappoint. It was opening weekend so you can imagine how busy they were but it was a great experience, as it usually is.

I had my favorite menu items - Dana Bagel on an Everything Bagel and the Frozen Blackbeard blended coffee drink, amazing selections. That Frozen Blackbeard always hits different, if you know what I mean.

Try Coffee Importers the next time you're in Dana Point, you won't be disappointed!

One of our favorite spots in the harbor! Anxious to see the new location but will miss this spot at the bottom of the stairs

Had an early breakfast. The food is excellent and has a decent quantity for the eggs.

Nice to walk around in this area

We are originally from Southern California and this location has been a staple in the Dana Point harbor. They have the best Cafe Mocha, and their neighboring bagel joint is the bomb. If you are in the area, check it out, just be aware that there's tons of construction because they're expanding the harbor.
