Luciana's can be trusted to deliver a great dining experience! The lasagne was excellent as was the eggplant parm. Terrific wine selection and prices offer a wide range of options. The service was personable, attentive and friendly. It remains one of our favorite Dana Point dining destinations!
Eggplant rollatini app I wouldn't order again. Caesar salad average. Shrimp and risotto nice veal parm was very good. Vanilla raisin cheesecake nice. Service was friendly but spotty. We'd go back but not rush back
Eggplant Parmesan was under cooked and came luke warm. I sent it back to be heated up. My friend had seafood pasta. The sauce tasted like garlic that hadn't been cooked down or combined with anything. My husband had veal Parmesan that lacked flavor and the veal didn't taste like high quality. The garlic bread was delicious and the fried calamari was delicious too.
We have enjoyed this restaurant since discovering it almost 40 years ago and even after leaving the state to move to the east coast, we always make a point of eating here on our annual visits. The food and service are always excellent as was the case with 3 pastas and an Ossobuco. My only complaint, and I have annotated it for the future, is in requesting a quiet table against the wall in the Library. What we got was a table that was against the wall but directly in the walkway to the private dining room where there was an event - and next to the servers' water station. That is hardly a desirable table given my request for a quiet one.
While Luciana's has been a cornerstone eating place in Dana Point for many years and well rated, our experience last night (1/9/25) was very disappointing. We have dined there many times since its initial opening so I speak from years of experience. While it is still owned by the same Italian family who first opened it, the quality is a far cry from mama Luciana's vision of a great Italian eatery. The wine list was a “don't even bother” selection of vineyards no one ever heard of. It figures then why the prices for a glass of the stuff was around $12. I ordered a PInot Noir, but one sip and I sent it back. My dining partner ordered a pasta dish that was swimming in so much watery liquid that it was more of a soup than a pasta dish. The house salad was equally unimaginative, just a pile of greens taken from one of those plastic bags you get at the market with a few cherry tomatoes strewn on top and a super vinaigery dressing that did not contain EVO. The bread should have been served with EVO as well but, alas, no...it was brought with butter. No matter though as it was tasteless and we didn't want it. I will compliment our waiter who was super helpful, and gave us very good service. Sorry Luciana's but I have to be truthful. There are other Italian restaurants in the local area that are truly wonderful. Luciana's is NOT.
Fantastic restaurant! Food, service, ambiance and price were all excellent. Best meal we've had in a longtime

Cheyenne was very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The food was delicious. We had veal parmigiano which was delicious. We enjoyed the Lisini San Biagio. The bartender was very helpful finding the wine we wanted. I enjoyed the chocolate dessert immensely. Cheyenne thank you. From MA!!

The food was some of the worst Italian food I’ve ever experienced. Very mediocre for all the dishes. I wouldn’t waste my time eating there.

Reservation for our 56th (!!) anniversary flushed down the toilet when arrived to find no parking!!! At 76 years of age, one disabled,, we aren’t up to tramping 5 or 6 blocks. Has it never occurred to those well known snobs to, maybe? Reserve PARKING for those with reservations??? We should have known better, what with all the bad reviews regarding customer dissatisfaction. ( As in “We can’t get no…..”)

I was here with a large group, family that was in town for Thanksgiving. I wish I could remember our servers name, because she was amazing. I had the lasagna bolognese, and it was DELICIOUS. If you're anywhere near the Dana Point area, you would be wise not to miss Luciana's.

I brought my wife here for her Birthday and it was worth the while. The ambiance was nice vibe of dem lighting and low conversation. You don't have to yell at the person seated across from you. The food was very flavorful. The bar tender made me one heck of a Negroni. My wife is currently pregnant so the bar made her a satisfying mocktail. The servers were very welcoming and informative. We will be coming back to this location for sure.
As usual, our experience was top notch. Luciana's has been our favorite Italian restaurant for a very long time and never disappoints. Service, ambience, and food quality are always on point.
